'The Masked Singer' Season 2: Paul Shaffer revealed as celebrity under the Skeleton mask and fans are disappointed he got voted off so early

'The Masked Singer' season 2 revealed the identity of another fan-favorite celebrity and fans are disappointed, he got voted off so soon into the competition. The skeleton won hearts right from his entrance during the premiere and became a fan-favorite in an instant with his cryptic clues and crazy performances. But all good things must come to an end, and so did the Skeleton's journey on the competition, as he was unmasked at the end of the episode.
On Wednesday night when the series returned for a brand new episode, six masked singers took to the stage to give their best performance, and trick judges and fans into guessing who they might be.
We witnessed the Thingamajig, the Butterfly, the Flamingo, the Black Widow, the Skeleton and the Leopard take to the stage once again and reveal brand new clues as to who they might be, leaving judges and viewers further puzzled. Post all six performances, it was time to unveil one celebrity singer who received the lowest votes. Getting unmasked on Wednesday night was the Skeleton. This left even the judges in shock because no one wanted him to be unmasked, at least not so soon into the competition.
Prior to the unmasking, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy guessed that it might be Shaffer, Ken Jeong speculated that it might be Martin Short and Nicole Scherzinger predicted that it might be Teller. Finally, unmasked, the skeleton was none other than Shaffer. He even revealed that he was with Martin Short just the previous week in Cannada, and studied him well so he could trick Ken.
Post the episode, shocked fans took to social media to reveal their disappointment with the Skeleton being eliminated so early into the competition. Taking to Twitter a fan wrote, "Omg Paul Shaffer for real? I love the skeleton! I'd go see him perform live haha. He's so cool and hip and sings in this certain style I like. My favorite, can't believe he was already voted off #themaskedsinger." Another fan mourning his departure said, "Aw I'm sad the Skeleton got voted off #themaskedsinger I was wrong at first thinking it was Dana Carvey, My sister told me it was Paul Shaffer and she was correct."
