'The Mandalorian' season 1 concluded on December 27, and the creator, showrunner of the Disney+ show, Jon Favreau, took to Twitter to confirm season 2's renewal on the same day. He wrote, "Season 2 of #TheMandalorian coming Fall 2020."

The news coming on the same day that season 1 ended left fans rejoicing and many expressed it on Twitter. A fan thanked Favreau and wrote, "Jon, whatever you touch turns into gold. Thank you for an awesome 1st season of a proper Star Wars show."

While another fan slyly addressed the fiasco of the latest 'Star Wars' movie, 'The Rise of the Skywalker', not meeting expectations. The fan wrote, "Thank you for literally saving star wars for the fans. This is the way."

Many fans attached pictures and gifs of Baby Yoda as they expressed their happiness about the return of the show. Some also requested that their favorite characters return to the show for the second season. One fan requested, "Bring omera back in season 2."

One fan was especially emotional and wrote on Twitter, "Thank you for giving me a wonderful Star Wars story with just the right mix of nostalgia, creativity, and heart. The Mandalorian has truly been the Star Wars experience I needed this year."

Fans also appreciated the first season of the show and congratulated the team on a job well done. One fan replied to Favreau's tweet and said, "Season 1 was everything I wanted and more and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!"

The show stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian aka Din Djarin and was written by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, and Christopher Yost.

Speaking about where he got the idea for the show, Favreau told the official Disney Fan Club, "It goes back as far back as 2012 when it was announced that Disney was going to be making other films in the Star Wars universe when Lucasfilm became part of Disney. I watched all the Star Wars movies again, and I was writing down notes about the type of story I would like to tell."

He added, "After that, I did Jungle Book while Episode Seven [Star Wars: The Force Awakens] was being filmed. I visited the set [of Episode Seven] that [director] J.J. Abrams was filming—that was very fun and exciting to see that world come to life and to be on that set. And then Disney announced the streaming service [Disney+], and it seemed that that was the right size and scale for the type of story I wanted to tell."
