'The Last Days of American Crime': Meet the cast of Netflix's futuristic action-thriller helmed by Olivier Megaton
An action-packed Friday is on the cards as Netflix is all set to roll out 'The Last Days of American Crime." The high-octane action-thriller based on Rick Remender's graphic novel of the same name follows a distant future where the goverment in a bid to fight terrorists and crime, plans to broadcast a signal that makes it virtually impossible for people to knowingly commit any form of crime or unlawful acts that harm people and endanger society.
The Olivier Megaton-helmed feature boasts of a solid cast in Édgar Ramírez, Michael Pitt, Anna Brewster, and Sharlto Copley. Ahead of film's release, here's what we need to know about the cast.
Édgar Ramírez as Graham Bricke
Ramírez plays a career criminal, Graham Bricke and as per the logline, he teams up with two more gangsters, Kevin Cash (Michael Pitt) and Shelby Dupree (Anna Brewster) to commit one final heist before the signal broadcast. The Venezuelan actor and Emmy nominee is remembered for his roles in 'Bourne Ultimatum' were he played Paz, a CIA assassin. He is also known for playing Larry in 'Zero Dark Thirty.' As far as his work in television goes, Ramirez is renowned for playing Gianni Versace in 'The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story' on FX in 2018.
Michael Pitt as Kevin Nash
From the trailer, Pitt's Kevin Nash can be best described as a confident, strapping gangster progeny who looks to commit one heck of a robbery before the transmission. He's got the knowledge of how things work and he plans to use that to get rich. The 39-year-old actor and musician is best known for playing Henry Parker in the teen drama 'Dawson's Creek' and Jimmy Darmody in the HBO series 'Boardwalk Empire.' Pitt is remembered by anime fans for playing Kuze, the hacker in 'Ghost in the Shell.'
Anna Brewster as Shelby Dupree
There isn't much known about Brewster's Dupree other than the fact that she is a black market hacker in the film. Brewster is known for her role as Bazine Netal, a First Order spy in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.' The 34-year-old British actress is best known for playing Anne Stafford in the TV series 'The Tudors.'
The official synopsis reads: "As a final response to terrorism and crime, the US government plans to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts. Graham Bricke (Édgar Ramírez), a career criminal who was never able to hit the big score, teams up with famous gangster progeny Kevin Cash (Michael Pitt) and black-market hacker Shelby Dupree (Anna Brewster) to commit the heist of the century and the last crime in American history before the signal goes off."
