HALSTEAD, ENGLAND: Renowned for his ability to craft thrilling productions, Guy Ritchie is back with another criminal drama, titled 'The Gentleman.'
The Netflix series is a spinoff of the same-titled 2019 film, which Ritchie himself directed.
The show chronicles the intriguing story of Eddie Horniman (Theo James), a military man who inherits his father's wealth and, inevitably, some of his questionable business ventures as well.
Freddy Horniman informs Eddie Horniman of his eight million-pound debt
Freddy Horniman (Daniel Ings), the eldest son of the Duke of Halstead, struggles with substance abuse, particularly cocaine. Freddy is perceived as not particularly brilliant and has had several encounters with criminals on multiple occasions.
Freddy has a meltdown and creates a commotion upon learning that his younger brother Eddie would inherit their late father's wealth, worth millions of dollars, instead of himself.
After venting his frustration over the arrangement, he reveals that he owes eight million pounds in debt to the notorious Liverpool cartel and If he fails to make the repayment by the end of the week, he will likely face severe consequences.
Freddy Horniman refuses to comply with Tommy Dixon's demand
To save his brother, Eddie enlists Susie Glass's (Kaya Scodelario) help, who negotiates a deal with Tommy Dixon (Peter Serafinowicz).
At Susan's insistence, Tommy decides to retain the initial four million pounds and forgives the remaining sum—of course, subject to certain conditions.
The condition was that Freddy had to dance in a chicken suit and apologize to the man. Initially resistant due to his natural lack of wit, Freddy objected, but after being persuaded by Eddie, he ultimately decided to accept the arrangement.
However, after snorting some white powder and losing his composure due to Tommy's demeaning comments, he shoots the man in the forehead, instantly killing him.
'The Gentlemen' is now streaming on Netflix.
