'The G Word': Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about Netflix comedy series produced by the Obamas

A new Netflix comedy series ‘The G Word’ with Adam Conover is being produced by power couple the Obamas which would talk about the chaos that unearthed in 2016 with the Trump administration transitioning and it is based loosely on Michael Lewis’s book 'The Fifth Risk'.

Adam Conover, better known as the creator and host of truTV’s ‘Adam Ruins Everything’ is teaming with Michelle and Barack Obama’s Higher Ground productions and the show may likely be in production from early 2021, a report states. Adam Conover shared on November 20, “Very happy to finally be able to share this news: I'm creating a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government. It's called The G Word, and I can't wait to share it with you.”

The show will likely be in production from early 2021. There has been no official release date yet.

Plot

‘The G Word’ will be loosely plotted on the book ‘The Fifth Risk’ by Michael Lewis that was published in 2018 where the book revealed several political appointments of the Trump presidency and what chaos it unfolded in departments. The show will also have some real documented footage to show the real work done by civil servants behind an administration office. The sketch comedy series with Conover will go inside various government administration houses and ask if the ‘government’ is a dirty word or a trusted institution.

Cast

Adam Conover will be at the forefront, running the show. 

Creator

The show was created by Fair Point and will be run by Conover who would work with Jon Cohen and Jon Wolf. From Obama’s Higher Ground production, Tonia Davis and Priya Swaminathan will also work as executive producer of the show.

Earlier works

Earlier, Higher Ground released Michelle Obama’s documentary ‘Becoming’ on Netflix. Obama’s first production, ‘American Factory’, won the Academy Award for the best documentary this year. However, they did not attend the award show and haven’t received a statuette. Higher Ground’s other notable work include the critically acclaimed documentary 'Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution', by James Lebrecht and Nicole Newnham. 

Adam Conover was behind the show ‘Adam Ruins Everything’ which has come to an end. Conover tweeted, “This confirms what many of you have probably already guessed: Adam Ruins Everything's season finale was also our series finale. I'm so proud of what our team accomplished on ARE, but it was time to take on a new challenge and prove we could tell even bigger stories.”
