'The Curse Of Oak Island' Season 7 is over, here's what we can expect in Season 8 other than treasure

We also hope that Season 8 is crisper and well, more enthralling than Season 7 and less staring at bags of mud and dirt

For over 200 years, scholars and treasure-seekers have tried to solve burning riddle of Oak Island. The search that began in 1795 has seen new discoveries and a surge of theories that range from spectacular to bizarre.

Stories surrounding the island have become more embellished along the way, and at times, it's hard to tell the difference between fact and fiction.

After examination of numerous artifacts and other evidence on the island, it is certain that human activity took place on the island, long before the searchers got to it. But what does it mean? Did they actually leave behind a massive treasure? And if so, where is it?

In the past six years, the Michigan brothers, Rick and Marty Lagina have worked hard to piece the puzzle together. In their show 'The Curse Of Oak Island', they have examined and scoured the island for the treasure, and they're sure they're within arm's grasp of the treasure.

In Season 7 of the show, the brothers tried draining the swamp, excavating different sites, including digging up the Daniel McGinnis foundation (the man who was the first to start the hunt) as well as the Samuel Ball memorial (a cabbage farmer, who became mysteriously wealthy on the island).

They found a ship-shaped anomaly at the bottom of the swamp, though they often went back and forth on whether it was actually a ship. The most intriguing episode was when they discovered some burnt artifacts and concluded that it was from a ship, that could have just been blown up after offloading treasure.

Wild theories, true, but entertaining all the same.

Nevertheless, the show had a rather bland finale, as for the most of it, the team just had a recap of the entire season. And then they bid goodbye, hoping to come back for the next Season 8 to regale us with more theories and exciting finds.

Well, we hope too, but we also hope that Season 8 is crisper and well, more enthralling than Season 7, and less staring at bags of mud and dirt. The history lessons always spice up the episodes and add some flavor rather than endless digging and excavations.

It would be even better to bring in more historians and hear what happened to those who tried to scour the island. The Restalls return made for an emotional episode, as they had suffered a tragedy on the island.

More than monetary value, there's so much history attached to the island, and the showrunners really need to expound this more or change the format up a bit, so that viewers don't keep staring into muddy and waterlogged tunnels forever.

Also, the importance of tying up loose ends can't be stressed enough. In the previous episode, the team excavated Samuel Ball's foundation, discovered a tunnel, and that was about it.

There is an actual curse involved with the island, which proves that the show can be much more intriguing and entertaining. Let's see what Season 8 brings.
