Spoilers for 'The Bold Type' Season 4 Episode 12 'Snow Day'

In its latest episode, 'The Bold Type' teased the beginning of a possible romantic connection between its protagonist Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) and Ava Rose (Alex Paxton-Beesley).

This is not a welcome introduction to the fan community that strongly ships Kat with her longtime on-again-off-again love interest Adena El Amin (Nikohl Boosheri).

"Do you watch the Bold Type? *possible spoiler* I think they are going to try and pair Kat with this Meghan McCain type character and I can’t deal." But this is not the only reason that the possible pairing has made fans unhappy. In the previous season, Kat and Adena were responsible for the firing of Ava's father RJ Safford (Aidan Devine), who used to fund a conversion camp. The takedown had cost Kat her own job at Scarlet, but she did it without a second thought. At the time, the show was commended for its treatment of the issues surrounding conversion camps, especially after Adena had revealed she was sent to one.

After all this, if the makers are going to introduce Ava, who comes from a strongly Republican background, as Kat's possible interest this season, it simply won't fly. "What the bold type is doing with the character of RJs daughter is legitimately awful I’m like in shock that that show is actually doing this, and the fact that they’re doing it with their Black lead is absolute garbage and I’m not even talking about the impending romance," tweeted a very upset fan.

"It’s such a slap in the face especially to the QWOC in their audience who championed this show. And to make kat as basically a prop in this storyline is frankly insulting," added another.

Kat and Adena together were a power couple and their victory over RJ was only a sample of their combined prowess. The two also share a deep emotional connection that fans have been eager for the makers to explore for the longest time. But they long abandoned that hope, especially after the previous season where they showed the two involved in yet another tiff as well.

"This show has gone downhill. especially with Kat's story line. defiantly not even close to the brilliance of season 1," tweeted another fan.

"I don’t know what writers' room needs to hear this but you shouldn’t make that homophobic character gay. Stop pushing this narrative that all homophobes are just closeted gays. Most of the time a bigot is just a bigot," a fan said. "Especially in the current climate we’re living in. learn to read a room ffs *cough* the bold type *cough*," added another.

Many blamed the "all white writers room". "Plus i believe it’s mainly white women. The shit they’ve done with Kat, Adena & Kat/Adena is trash."

"I...don’t care about the bold type anymore," a fan finally said. "I can't watch the bold type like this is actually ridiculous," another agreed. "Oh i see the writers on that “we need to have an open dialogue & hear differing opinions/hear both sides” bs. FOH. I know they gotta have an all white writers room," added another.

'The Bold Type' airs on Thursdays at 10 pm ET/ PT.
