WWE superstar The Big Show to play a family man on Netflix's new live-action comedy show
Coming to Netflix in the month of August is our favorite wrestler and his family. The streaming service has announced 'The Big Show Show', a half-hour-long comedy series starring WWE Superstar The Big Show. Shot on multi-cameras, production on the 10-episode series begins in Los Angeles on August 9.
'The Big Show Show' is executive produced by Josh Bycel (of 'Happy Endings', 'Scrubs', 'American Dad' fame) and Jason Berger ('Champaign ILL', 'Happy Endings', 'LA to Vegas' fame). The duo will also serve as showrunners. Susan Levison and Richard Lowell will also be executive producing the series for WWE Studios.
'The Big Big Show' is set to star WWE Superstar The Big Show, who is also known as Paul Wight ('Fighting with My Family', 'WWE'), Allison Munn (of 'Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn' fame), Reylynn Caster (of 'American Housewife' fame), Juliet Donenfeld (of 'Pete the Cat' fame) and Lily Brooks O'Briant ('The Tick').
An American professional wrestler and actor, The Big Show began his career in World Championship Wrestling, where he was known as The Giant. 'The Big Show Show' is his biggest TV role to date. In features, he is known for his role in 'Fighting With My Family' co-starring former WWE star Dwayne Johnson. It was produced by WWE Studios in association with MGM and Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production.
According to the official synopsis released by Netflix, the show revolves around Big Show and his family. When the teenage daughter of Big Show, a retired world-famous WWE Superstar comes to live with him, his wife and two other daughters, he quickly becomes outnumbered and outsmarted. Despite being 7 feet tall and weighing 400 pounds, he is no longer the center of attention.
'The Big Show Show' is Netflix’s latest project with WWE Studios, following the recent announcement of the family film 'The Main Event'. The comedy series joins a growing slate of live-action series featuring kids and teens and made for families, which includes 'Family Reunion', 'Malibu Rescue', 'No Good Nick', 'Alexa & Katie' and the upcoming series 'The Letter for the King' and 'The Baby-Sitters Club'.
