The official synopsis reads, "Set in the Second Phase Offensive of the Korean War, "The Battle at Lake Changjin" tells an epic historical tale: 71 years ago, the People's Volunteer Army (PVA) entered North Korea for battle. Under extreme freezing conditions, the troops on the Eastern Front pursued with fearless spirit and iron will, as they courageously fought the enemy at Lake Changjin (also known as Chosin Reservoir). The battle was a turning point in the Korean War and demonstrated the courage and resolve of the PVA".

In the movie, we see a troop of 120,000 Chinese men who managed to plan efficiently and attack US forces. Although the Americans did somehow break free and get away, they were eventually forced to evacuate the land, which thereby officially paved the way to their complete withdrawal from North Korea, in its entirety.

The three-hour-long war movie has officially made a solid $892 million in China since its initial release, which was September 30, 2021, and thereby become the country’s film of the highest gross; a value of close to $900 million in less than two months time!

'The Battle at Lake Changjin' has also surpassed the action movie, 'Wolf Warrior II' (2017). The latter previously held the record for China’s highest-grossing movie and made a whopping $882 million at the box office.

In addition to this, 'The Battle at Lake Changjin' is officially the highest-grossing film of 2021 worldwide, as per Variety, having outrun James Bond's 'No Time to Die' as well.

As a result, with the movie’s release and an almost instant fan following comes the rapidly growing hostility between China and the United States of America.

'The Battle at Lake Changjin' was released on September 30, 2021.
