'The Bachelor' for senior citizens has to be the best thing to have happened since Viagra and here's why

When Bachelor Nation said that they wanted older contestants on 'The Bachelor', this may not have been what they meant - but it is definitely the best thing to happen to the franchise. Mature, non-dramatic people who aren't influencers? You have to love that.

Chris Harrison announced that ABC is casting "eligible seniors" who are "looking for love in golden years" this February 24 for a certain show that they're calling 'Senior Dating Show'. All the contestants have to be "active and outgoing" and must be 65 years old or older and "ready for a committed relationship". Judging by the whole thing, this definitely looks like a potential Bachelor spin-off and Harrison is pretty on-brand. With all the backlash this season is getting with Peter Weber as the lead, this could be ABC's saving grace as far as finding love is concerned.

Weber's season has received backlash like no other for a number of things and one of them is that the contestants are just out of high school. The average age of the contestants was 22 and let's be honest here, that's a little too young for marriage. With seniors on the show, that's one thing you don't have to worry about.

Unlike the complaint fans have had about the season, seniors won't be a bunch of people waiting to gain some Instagram following so they can sell "slimming tea". Getting seniors trying to fall in love together will steer clear of this mess and give the show time to focus on the job at hand — dating.

Instead of drama about virginity and sex, you could have actual relationships formed through the show. Perhaps we could go back to the roots of 'The Bachelor', the reason why the show started in the first place. Lots of aww moments too, we think.

The only concern most fans share is the editing and format of the show — they're hoping it doesn't mock seniors.

Can you imagine two elderly people just looking into each other's eyes and actually falling in love after a whole lot of hurdles in life? We are here for it.
