'The Bachelor' Spoilers: Does Matt James' mother Patty prefer Michelle over Rachael for her son?
The fantasy suite dates episode aired on Monday, March 8, night, and Matt James once again championed his mother for raising him to be the person that he is today. He did so in front of his father Manny James who was largely absent during his growing up years. His parents' broken marriage had affected how he perceived relationships and that's the reason he said at the beginning of the season that he'd never been in love.
The situation seems to have changed now and fans have noted that he looks like a "simp" around Rachael Kirkconnell and Twitter has been abuzz with how hard he has fallen for her. He eliminated Bri Springs following the fantasy suite date, after getting very intimate with her, according to what was shown on camera.
It's between Michelle Young and Rachael now and even though everyone knows how it's about to end, there's still a section of people who are hoping for Michelle and Matt's future together — our deep condolences to that group!

It's down to two women now and even though it's easy for Matt to pick his fiancee, one mustn't forget it's a TV show and the drama should continue till the last minute of the season. To turn it up in the final episode of the season, Matt James' mother Patty will be seen making an appearance, her second one since the premiere episode, and judging from the trailer, she's about to plant doubts in Matt's heart about the one he'd like to choose.
Does Patty James like Michelle Young more than Rachael Kirkconnell?
"Feelings come and go. People fall in and out of love and love is not the end-all, be-all," Patty tells Matt according to the finale episode preview with no brownie points for guessing she's talking about Matt's feelings for Rachael.
One of the unreleased previews that played at the end of the March 8 episode also saw Patty laughing and being comfortable with Michelle whereas she appeared to be stone cold in Rachael's company and this is very telling of who she likes more for her son. Either it's that or it's clever editing! We will find out for sure in the finale.
In the trailer that's out already, a bawling Matt is seen saying that everything he's been working towards is beginning to crumble and he doesn't know how to go ahead and the next few shots feature Michelle balled up in a corner crying as well as Rachael. Later on in the trailer, Chris Harrison is seen consoling Matt and apologizing for something, more about that in a bit. For now, let's dive into a little big spoiler. If you don't want to read, skip the next paragraph, you've been warned!
How did Matt James breakup with Michelle Young?
Reality Steve writes, "She gave him jerseys for the two of them. However, he breaks it off with her on this night. Says he loves Michelle but is not in love with her. She suspects it’s because of Rachael and he confirms."
If you are wondering why Rachael is seen crying in the trailer, we have the answer for you. Steve further revealed that after dumping Michelle, Matt also cancels the final date with Rachael because " he is confused and hurting or something to that effect."
However, the next day he sends a letter to Rachael apologizing for canceling on her and asks her to meet him by the lake where they had their overnight date. She arrives, tells him off for canceling on him, they kiss and makeup but Matt still doesn't propose to her but they leave the show together with a plan to explore their relationship further.
