Why did Matt James dump Bri Springs? Furious fans slam 'The Bachelor' star as 'stupid', say he 'blew it'

'The Bachelor' fans had been rooting for Bri Springs and Matt James for a long time. Even though she expressed in the start she had doubts about entering the show, the suitress quickly bonded with Matt following their first-on-first, for which she even received the first impression rose. However, she was dumped by Matt in the latest, March 8 episode and it isn't sitting well with the viewers. 

Bri and Matt had a great time during the fantasy suite date as the duo opened up about their upbringing in a single-parent household. She even told Matt that she is in love with him and looked forward to taking the next step in their relationship.

Bri says in the episode, "I can envision myself being engaged at the end of this." During their date in the woods, she tells Matt, "I'm just wanting to know you feel about an engagement coming up. I just want to know where your head is at and see if you're there."

However, Matt had different plans for her in mind as he struggled to decide which one of the final three ladies to send home. While Bri waited eagerly to receive a rose from Matt, he first hands it over to Michelle Young and presents the second one to Rachael Kirkconnell. 

When Matt goes to bid Bri goodbye after eliminating her in the rose ceremony, he tells her that choosing between her and the other two ladies was the "hardest decision" he had to make. He further explains that his decision was influenced by everything that unfolded in the past. Although not convinced, Bri leaves without an argument. 

But, fans have expressed disapproval in her elimination and called out Matt for dumping her while taking Michelle and Rachael to 'The Bachelor' finale. One tweeted, "Dang dude #TheBachelor I would've married Bri in a heartbeat! YOU BLEW IT!" Another added, "Really want Bri to be the next bachelorette. She held herself with so much class this entire season and is so beautiful! Matt is stupid for letting her go. #TheBachelor " One wrote, "Bri should not be wasting her beautiful tears on this, eye-opened kissing, freak of nature. She’ll find someone better! #TheBachelor " Another tweeted, "Bri was the one for him, idc who Matt ending up picking Bri was the one.. smh big mistake Matt #TheBachelor".

'The Bachelor' airs on Mondays at 8 PM ET on ABC.
