Why did 'The Bachelor' alum Jacqueline Trumbull call off her wedding to Paul Seli?
'The Bachelor' alum Jacqueline Trumbull took to her Instagram on August 4, 2022, to finally announce to her loyal followers that she had called off her wedding to Paul Seli. Alongside photographs of her wedding guests, Jacqueline shared, "A deep thank you to all my wonderful friends and family - and even my advisor! - for coming out to Portugal even though I chose to not get married and end my relationship. Almost all my wedding guests came out and showered me with love and support. It was an incredibly moving week. I'll never forget the kindness of my friends during such a difficult time. It was also beautiful to see all these people I'd known separately fall in love with each other. I have the most brilliant, funny, thoughtful friends and family who made what could have been a terrible memory into one of love and joy."
While the former reality star kept things vague when it came to revealing the reason behind her big decision to call off the wedding, she however opened up in an interview with US Weekly. Citing "irresolvable incompatibilities", she said, "I realized we had irresolvable incompatibilities. I love him and want him to find happiness with someone who is more right for him. Much of our relationship was wonderful and I will always be rooting for him on the sidelines," she explained to the outlet.

Prior to announcing the big news, Jacqueline hinted at trouble in paradise when she posted a selfie with a cryptic message. "Throwback to Sintra, Portugal, where things were supposed to go differently. My life would be very different now if Sintra had gone according to plan. I've often found greater happiness through thwarting plans and knowing when to step off the path," she wrote.
Jacqueline became a household name following her stint on 'The Bachelor' in 2018, where she tried to win over Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s heart. She later found love with Duke professor- Paul Seli. After nearly two years of dating, the couple got engaged in 2021. At the time of their engagement, Jacqueline gushed over the romantic proposal. "Paul pulled off the most amazing proposal!!!! I am in San Ramon CA freezing my eggs again with Caroline (and I *thought* Kendall; we are also filming a documentary on egg freezing. On Friday, I thought we were going to an art gallery to film some b roll, which made sense because I'm doing a painting for the documentary. So I'm all mic'd up, and we start walking around looking at art, when suddenly I see a painting that looks a lot like Paul's style (he is an artist). Then I see the signature. This creepy feeling comes over me, because no one is answering me when I start fumbling around in confusion "wait... that really looks like Paul's art. That's exactly like his signature." Then, he walks out from around a corner and proposes. I'm floored (he's supposed to be in Durham, and he is SUCH A GOOD LIAR he really had me thinking he was going to propose in January in Durham. As you can see, the painting is of a proposal and he made that for us to keep for the rest of our lives 🥰," she wrote at that time.
Jacqueline and Paul were supposed to get married in the last week of July. While the former reality star seems to be holding up fairly well, sadly things haven't been smooth for Paul, who complained of facing a hard time. In an Instagram post, he shared, "I've had some really hard personal issues over the past month or so, have been waking up anxious, eating very little, and getting stuck in ruminative thought loops. Suffice it to say that the past month has been somewhat hellish. I've been here before (in my late teens, and then again in my early 30s), and I'll get out again. And one of the best strategies for my recovery is to paint and write music; and they're both helping me tremendously. Never underestimate the ability for art to provide catharsis and healing. It's my savior."
