Was Erin Smith abused? 'Temptation Island' star says ex beat her up when she was mourning best friend's death
Erin Smith, a 24-year-old behavioral therapist, was eager to join 'Temptation Island' with her boyfriend, Corey Sobczyk, as she wasn't entirely sure if he was the one for her. Although Corey seemed to be head-over-heels in love with his girlfriend, for some reason Erin seemed to be very guarded and wasn't entirely sure about their relationship. Despite many single guys at the villa tried to make their move on Erin, she always kept them at an arm's distance and was very clear about her relationship with Corey. Everybody was curious to know why Erin was being so guarded and aloof. We finally got our answer in the latest episode of 'Temptation Island'. The former pro-soccer player's previous relationships definitely left her with some deep scars that she's still healing from.

Was Erin in an abusive relationship?
In an earlier episode Erin spoke about losing her best friend, and never being the same ever since. She explained how the loss was unexpected and never being able to fully recover from it.
Apparently, while she was still grieving the loss of her best friend, Erin was fighting many other battles in her personal life too. Dring the bonfire ceremony, she revealed that none of her previous relationships were good or healthy. She then shared how she was physically abused by one of her ex-boyfriends while she was still mourning the loss of her friend.
The host, Mark Walberg, was shocked on hearing about Erin's previous abusive relationship. He gently nudged her to speak more about it. The reality star then explained that her ex wasn't entirely the one to be blamed, as she too stayed on in the relationship and was part of whatever was happening. She also observed that after she got out of that relationship she became angry with everybody around her. Mark also pointed out how Erin might be carrying some shame due to the abuse in that relationship as she never discussed it with anybody after Erin revealed her parents too weren't aware of it.
Mark then reassured her that she wasn't the one to be blamed for whatever happened in her earlier relationship. He also encouraged her to work on herself and try to strengthen her relationships and let people in, instead of pushing them away. Erin agrees and explains that Corey was one of the best relationships she ever had, and expressed her desire to not let go of it. Hopefully, Erin and Corey manage to make it out of the island together.
