Ted Cruz body-shamed for 'beer belly' and wearing skinny jeans at Cancun airport: 'He has a figure like Trump'
It would seem that Ted Cruz will have to weather this storm a lot longer than he thought. The Republican senator for Texas landed in hot water on Thursday, February 18, after he flew with his family to Cancun, Mexico, for a vacation, while his home state battled a once-in-a-century winter storm that left millions without heat, power or water and many cases of carbon monoxide poisoning, with two fatalities as Texans resorted to unconventional ways to keep warm.
Cruz admitted the trip was "obviously a mistake" as the public called for his resignation and he ended up putting the blame for the trip on his daughters, saying that he wanted "to be a good dad". He has since returned to Texas on Thursday, February 18, following the blowup of the controversy.

However, the Internet is ever-unforgiving and while there seems to be no end of faults that people can catch on to regarding his actions, many are now picking apart Cruz's airport fashion and body-shaming the senator as he returned to his home state. Cruz checked in for his return flight on Thursday, February 18, afternoon in Cancun and walked through the terminal pulling his roller bag, wearing a golf shirt, jeans and a face mask in the style of Texas's state flag.
Many picked apart Cruz's appearance, with one tweeting, "Ted Cruz looks like he’s about to give birth with that belly. What is he eating in Washington between flirts and tweets to AOC?" Another wrote, "I live in South Texas and I think I am a good father also @tedcruz because we have been without electricity for 4 days now & I am feeding my small kids peanut butter and tuna sandwiches & trying to keep them warm NOT sunning my fat belly in Cabo like u."

Many even poked fun at his jeans, with one writing, "who wears jeans when flying? confirmation that he's a psychopath." Other users wondered what brand of jeans Cruz was wearing with one user tweeting, "Brand of jeans worn by Ted Cruz? For someone from Texas, they are an off brand non-functioning jean. They are not Levi's or Wranglers, not even Dickies. ..."
One user wrote, "Ted Cruz not only destroyed Texas. He has ruined the blue jean industry. Someone stop him. Get rid of those jeans. He has developed a figure like Trump. Let him stay in Cancun."

However, others are cautioning people not to resort to body shaming Cruz as he continues to face all the criticisms coming his way for his trip to Cancun. One user tweeted, "I think there’s plenty enough to say about Ted Cruz without bringing up his belly or weight. I’m seeing a lot of jabs on social media and we can do better than that. I mean, it’s Ted Cruz!"
Another wrote, "His body shape has nothing to do with what a terrible person he is. Body shaming sucks. Do better or we won't be able to distinguish you from Cruz supporters."
