Taylor Nolan and Derek Peth from 'Bachelor in Paradise' call off their engagement
The popular couple of a very dramatic 'Bachelor In Paradise', season 4 — Taylor Nolan and Derek Peth — are no longer together. They got engaged on the show's fourth installment that aired last year, but in recent news have decided to go their separate ways and announced their split on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Nolan and 30-year-old Peth shared the news in a joint statement to E! News. They said, "It is with much sadness that we have decided to end our engagement. We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us."
The statement also added, "We will still be present in each other's lives with support, admiration and respect for each other."
Prior to their split, Peth had relocated to New York while Nolan chose to stay back in the opposite coast, in her hometown, Seattle. Back in May, the couple had enjoyed a special trip together, with Peth visiting Nolan's family and photos of which the latter had shared on her Instagram account.
The May 14 post by Nolan shared the same memory from the holidays, with a snap of the couple posing by a fireplace. "He was just him and I was just me. It's one of my favorite trips we've had because everyone loved him and it just fit. Long distance is difficult but thinking about good quality experiences like this makes it a bit easier," wrote the mental health counselor.
Nolan's first appearance on The Bachelor was on Nick Viall's season, while Peth's first appearance on the show's counterpart, was on JoJo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette. Both Nolan and Peth then went on to star in last summer's Bachelor in Paradise where the two found love in each other.
Their union happened quite early in the season that went on to be one of the most dramatic seasons of the show with halted production stemming from sexual assault allegations that happened over a hot tub incident involving the season's cast members Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson. The studio later, however, revealed that no sexual misconduct had taken place in the show's duration.
But for the former couple — Nolan and Peth — things were fresh out of a fairytale, with Peth getting down on one knee and proposing Nolan in front of a live studio audience on the Bachelor In Paradise after-show, with a $50,000 Neil Lane diamond ring.
"If people ever wonder if this stuff is real...all you had to do was see him, he was shaking like a leaf," said the show's host Chris Harrison after the news of their engagement had broken out. "That was one of the sweetest, rawest moments I've seen in a long time," he had shared with E! News.
Sadly things didn't work out for them, even though their split seems amicable so far.
