In response to iDubbbz's apologetic video, YouTube and TikTok star Tana Mongeau said she ‘deserved’ the outrage and didn't think she ‘owed’ an apology from him. Tana Mongeau had a fan meet-and-greet event in 2017, and well-known YouTuber iDubbbz went there. While there, he encouraged Mongeau to use a racist slur as they posed for a picture.

Tana's tour was finally canceled as a result of the incident, which infuriated her followers. Later, iDubbbz would include the incident's video in one of his ‘Content Cop’ uploads, which were criticisms of well-known content creators' actions.

‘Tana, I’m sorry’

On May 18, 2023, six years after the incident, iDubbbz posted a long YouTube video apology. He criticized his prior stuff in the video and specifically mentioned Tana's meet and greet.

He said, “I particularly want to apologize to Tana. Tana, I’m sorry. I should have never made that video. I harassed Tana in person and then harassed her online, and that’s deplorable behavior. It’s so stupid.”

‘I just never expected that’

The vlogging queen, however, wasn't quite willing to ‘accept’ iDubbbz's apologies. Instead, she argued that the YouTuber wasn't ‘owed’ to apologize and that she wasn't even entitled to one in the first place.

"I was like, ‘Damn,' I just never expected that, and I don’t know how I feel about it," she stated about the video.

She added, “I don’t know how to say this… I’m not talking about anything in regards to the things he said, but I’m more so talking about his actions to me. Like, him showing up to my show, him kind of putting me on blast. Him inevitably making me kind of canceled and lose subscribers and have to apologize. I kind of think I deserved that. And maybe that’s a dark [thing] to say, but I don’t feel like I’m owed an apology. And maybe that’s because I’ve accepted it so much.”

Tana acknowledged that iDubbbz was at fault, as did her co-host, but she added that the experience had given her a ‘dose of reality’ and caused her to think back on her actions, eventually ‘changing the trajectory’ of her career.

She also mentioned the possibility of having iDubbbz come on a podcast episode since she believes he might do so in order to end their long-running dispute.
