At the end of 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' Episode 2, Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-wook) was surprised when Ji-ah (Jo Bo-ah) held him by the neck and told him that she is the same person who Lee Yeon has been waiting for. Lee Yeon has been waiting for his one true love Ae Eum to reappear for 600 years now and with each passing day, he had grown tired and was just getting extremely frustrated when he met Ji-ah again after having saved her from monsters as a child. This time, he believes that she is not the woman he has been waiting for, despite the two of them sharing the same form.

However, this time around, Lee Yeon's half-sibling Lee Rang (Kim Beom), ends up telling Lee Yeon about a rumor he heard about Ae-eum. Turns out she has been reborn, but Tapeul (Hades' sister) tells Lee Yeon not to search for her as that would only bring misfortune to both of them. Lee Yeon doesn't listen to her and takes a long leave from hunting down rogue monsters. He ends up revisiting the island where Ae-Eum's life was lost and Ji-ah too is visiting because that Island seems to hold the answer regarding her missing parents as well. There is more to Ji-ah than meets the eye, because when Lee Yeon attempts to apply folk medicine after she is injured by a man raving about ghosts, there is a pattern that appears on her shoulder. Is she a monster in disguise too?

Is Ji-ah aware that she may not be completely human? We are not sure because the episode ended right after Ji-ah choked Lee Yeon and asked him why he killed her all those years ago. In the promo of the upcoming episode, however, it becomes clear that the one who is in danger is not Lee Yeon, but Ji-ah, and that too because of Lee Rang. Lee Rang is seen taunting his brother about how he must kill his half brother if he wants to save "his" woman. What is interesting is why Lee Rang seems to hate his brother to this extent. Is it only because Lee Yeon abandoned his brother to go in search of Ae Eum, "a mere human girl"? There seems to be more here, that has not been revealed so far.

In addition to this, we also wonder what happened to the gumiho's yeowu guseolThis is something that Lee Yeon had left with Ae Eum and if Ji-ah really is Ae Eum then shouldn't she have the yeowu guseol too? We must watch out for the answers in the upcoming episode.

'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' will be aired on tvN on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.30 pm KST and can be streamed on Viki Global.
