Suri Cruise turns 17 in April! Is she set to become Hollywood's next singing star or just another 'nepo baby'?
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Suri Cruis has had a pleasant life in New York and has been effectively raised outside of the public eye. However, the daughter of Katie Holmes and her ex-husband Tom Cruise is set to turn 17 next month in April.
Apparently, Suri will celebrate her 17th birthday on April 16, 2023, marking her very last before she's officially an adult, as per Hello Magzine. For most of her life, the teenager has avoided the public eye and her parents have tried to give her a normal childhood and support her career choice of walking in her mother's footsteps with a beautiful singing voice.

'She's very, very talented'
When Holmes, Cruise's second wife, requested a divorce in 2012, their daughter, who was six years old at the time, stayed with her. Cruise did, however, have several visitor rights. After the couple's separation, Suri has lived with Holmes and has led a pretty quiet life with her mother, who was determined to keep her out of the spotlight when she was younger. But now that she is 16, her mother opens up more about her adolescent daughter and even involves her in some endeavors, as per the Daily Mail.
"She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing," Homes told Yahoo Entertainment previously about starring Suri on the cover of the 'Blue Moon' soundtrack in the movie 'Alone Together' that Holmes directed. "That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want - go do your thing.'" The mom-of-one was asked why she chose Suri for the job and she said, "I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her."
In May 2021, Suri made headlines again when she sang a duet with her mother at a charity event in New York City. "It was a beautiful moment and a memory they will cherish forever," a source told People in May 2021.
'My main goal is to just let her know how much I love her'
Holmes provided another infrequent glimpse at her relationship with Suri in 2021, telling InStyle: "I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it." In 2014, she told People "My main goal is to just let her know how much I love her."
Suri was reportedly last seen in public with her dad Tom following his split with Katie Holmes. Although it has been rumored that the Church of Scientology had prevented him from visiting her and 'complicated' their relationship, Tom argued citing a tight work schedule.
After a publication accused the 'Mission Impossible' star of "abandoning" his daughter for over three months despite being granted visiting rights soon after the split, he sued it for libel for a $50 million lawsuit. However as the case unfolded, notwithstanding the fact that he had not seen Suri in about three months, he said that this was due to circumstances beyond his control. "Unfortunately in this situation it was impossible," he told the court, according to People.
Even while he said it wasn't the same as seeing his young daughter in person and that talking to a youngster on the phone can be challenging, he continued by saying that he hadn't abandoned his daughter and that he phoned her every day. "You have to work at it. I’ve gotten very good at it. I tell wonderful stories," he said as per the report. Holmes and her ex were enthusiastic about co-parenting Suri, according to sources close to Holmes cited by the outlet at the time of the breakup.
