'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 9: Chuck shows Sam the future and it looks grim for the Winchester brothers
After a long wait, 'Supernatural' came back with a smashing episode this week — and the odds remain stacked more than ever against the Winchester boys.
Sam and Eileen are trapped by Chuck in a casino in Nebraska and Chuck shows Sam the two brothers' future and it looks pretty grim.
So Chuck, the master manipulator that he is, has been trying to get the piece of Sam out of his shoulder wound, but when his attempts at hurting Sam physically don't work, he goes on to play mental games.
He realizes that it was Sam's hope that remained between him and a win and tries to break him. "Hope. That's what's stopping me," Chuck realizes. "You still think you're the hero of this story. You still think you can win."
Sam, unfortunately, breaks. You see, in every version of the future that Chuck shows Sam through his magical clock, it comes down to the same conclusion — they cannot kill him or trap him, or else monsters will rule the world.
It's January 6, 2021, and monsters are everywhere. Cas had to be buried by Dean after the mark made him go crazy. Claire and Eileen are both dead — and Dean wants to quit, he's had enough.
Then, in the next glimpse, Sam sees November 3, 2021, where the brothers are going to hunt a vampire nest — but, it ends badly. Then, on December 9, 2022, Sam and Dean had actually turned into monsters and Bobby and Jody are hunting them. Dean kills Jody after she shoots monster Sam.
Sam fights with all his might, but he believes Chuck — so when Cas and Dean come back from Purgatory with the Leviathan flower blossom and the spell all done, he is unable to execute it.
Cas had taken on the mark to create the weapon. Chuck heals himself after stealing hope from Sam and we're all back to square one. However, the Winchester brothers are more convinced than ever that they will not let Chuck have the end he wants for his story.
