'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 15: Pastor's toxic daughter story foreshadows Jack becoming mindless weapon

Look no further than the similarities between Jack and the pastor's daughter. Both are fresh-faced and naive about how the world works, have daddy issues and both are weapons who want to bring about a status quo situation

While Sam and Dean meet Amara in Pennsylvania, FBI Agents Swift aka Castiel and Agent Lovato aka Jack descend on a town to solve a murder by a teddy bear. Yup, you read right. Episode 15 seems determined to have some very 'Supernatural-esque' camp horror fun even while it takes care of its end game arc. Like always, the B-plot also gives us more insight about what Jack is grappling with as Billie the Reaper prepares him to blow up God aka Chuck. We also get to hear about Rowena running Hell with a 'what will be will be' attitude with no demons actively scouting for souls -- only taking the ones that fall by themselves.

It is heartwarming to see Cas and Jack team up for a case, with Castiel even reaffirming his fatherly love for Jack. We also see Jack opening up to the pastor's daughter about also "disappointing" his "many dads".

The 'monster of the week' is none other than the pastor's daughter who is a little too good at tech and killing. An anti-Charlie figure if you will. After her mother dies, the pastor moves back to her hometown and reopens the church she used to go to but makes it a more open "faith community". But the girl, who resents her dad for spending time helping others than her and clings to her mother's memory hates what he does with the place.

She wants it to go back to the more zealot way of doing things. So she becomes a weapon of God's wrath against sins (possibly after watching 'Se7en' too many times). She targets people from the community who she feels are not adhering to Christian values.

By the end, Castiel and Jack show their otherwordly selves to rescue two victims and the toxic pastor's girl is driven off by the out-of-work crossroads demon pretending to be a cop. Seeing a crossroad demon again after so long ups the nostalgia factor by a 100 -- remember how fun they were? We can only hope we will see "Zach", the crossroads demon, who likes referring to himself in the third-person, again.

But we also have to wonder why they decided to stick in this monster of the week storyline now (besides the obvious reason of giving both sets of actors shooting schedules with breaks). In that case, look no further than the similarities between Jack and the pastor's daughter. Both are fresh-faced and naive about how the world works. Both have daddy issues and both are weapons who want to bring about a status quo situation.

Jack tells Castiel that Billie the Reaper is grooming him as a weapon that will detonate and kill God and Amara. Jack is essentially the bomb and the suicide bomber, all rolled into one. So it is inevitable that he too will die.

Castiel refuses to accept this and decides to go find Plan B to replace their Plan A, that won't end up killing Jack off. Also, despite Jack telling him not to say anything to Dean and Sam, he seems to spill the beans to Dean.

At the end of the episode, we see the pastor go off to try to save his daughter. But we see that the girl is already bound for Hell with Zach. Similarly, Castiel is trying to find a way to save Jack too but is Jack's destiny fixed like the pastor's daughter too?

If Castiel finds a way to save Jack and there is a power vacuum left after God and Amara die, what will Jack become? Will he be the Big Bad that Castiel, Dean and Sam will have to fight in the season finale?

'Supernatural' aired on October 15 on The CW.
