Super Bowl LIV: Mountain Dew's 'The Shining' ad starring Brian Cranston and Tracee Ross leaves fans confused
Mountain Dew decided to play a parody of 'The Shining' by bringing Brian Cranston and Tracee Ellis Ross into the picture. The video begins with Cranston (playing Jack Nicholson's character) walking up the stairs with an ax in one hand and a Mountain Dew bottle on the other. He can be heard saying, "Come out, come out, wherever you are".
His creepy voice does not stop him from introducing the new Mountain Dew flavor as he says, "I have got the new Mountain Dew Zero Sugar with the same refreshing taste but with zero sugar" and he then goes on to break the door with an ax while saying "without any sugar".
This leaves Tracee scared but she decides to take the drink as she adds, "I am thirsty". But one thing that stole the show was Cranston dressed as 'The Shining' twins. However, fans were still confused about how they felt about the ad. For some, the ad was the worst of all that was brought out by Mountain Dew.
"Sorry, dumbest Super Bowl commercial so far - and I am a huge Brian Cranston fan," read one comment. Another read, "#MountainDew with the front runner for worst #SuperBowl #commercial of the night. Sorry, Brian Cranston!"
However, there were others who thought that the ad was good. "Mt dew w brian Cranston hilarious!" wrote one user. Others thought that if the two actors came together for a parody movie, they would definitely be buying tickets.
"I WANT BRIAN CRANSTON IN A THE SHINNING REMAKE," read the comment. Another wrote, "Brian Cranston & Tracee Ellis Ross?? We need that movie!!"
Looks like the Super Bowl commercial has given rise to people wanting another movie and while it may seem like a far fetched dream, we hope it does come true.
