‘Stumptown’ Episode 8: Will Dex’s disdain for ‘The Other Woman’ prompt her to find out more about Liz?

While, ‘November Surprise’ clearly lacked anything that could possibly blow our minds, the creators may have saved it for ‘The Other Woman’, the series’ upcoming episode.

Upon watching the promo of Episode 7 of ‘Stumptown’ we were bogged down by anxiety as we eagerly waited to watch the awkwardness at Friendsgiving unfold, owing to the inevitable sexual tension between Dex, Grey and Hoffman. Instead, all we got to see was the old pals engage in causal mockery about their respective dates for the night. While ‘November Surprise’ clearly lacked anything that could possibly blow our minds, the creators may have saved it for ‘The Other Woman’, the series’ upcoming episode.

All along, Dex and Grey convinced themselves that they could never get involved in anything remotely romantic and how they were better off as friends, until Liz walked into the latter’s bar one day. While, we are thoroughly surprised with Dex’s reaction to Grey’s blooming relationship and a sudden flip in her character, we ought to remind ourselves that there’s more adding to the mutual feelings the PI and the mysterious lady share.

Although Dex’s proximity with Grey explains her feelings toward Liz, she feels something is off about her as a person. When Grey brings Liz with him to Dex’s home for the Thanksgiving supper, the PI doesn’t think twice before questioning her guest’s mental stability.

Dex’s remark might have come across as snarky but it hints at a few aspects about Liz which are still hidden. During one of the conversations with Grey, his new love interest jokingly mentions her former boyfriend, who had a psychotic break while they were in France and got her detained for two months by telling the cops that she used him as a drug mule.

The manner in which she put it across left Grey wondering if she was only fooling around about her past or if it actually occurred. This has left us tensed as well, not able to stop thinking about Liz’s true identity and her intentions with Grey.

Dex and Grey’s affiliation for each other is one of the strongest we’ve seen on ‘Stumptown’ since it aired. Therefore, we can expect to see Dex going about investigating ‘The Other Woman’ not only to expose Liz but also to bring peace to herself.
