LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: At about 10.30 am Monday, December 12, Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, a longtime executive producer of Ellen's show, checked into room 249 of the Oak Tree Inn in Encino. The hotel manager said the startled maid discovered DJ from Ellen DeGeneres' show had shot himself in a Los Angeles hotel room.

According to the hotel staff at the Oak Tree Inn, Boss was found in a pool of blood in the room bathroom where he was staying. “He went into his room, and he never came out,” the manager, Rakesh, told Daily Mail. “At 11.15 am on Tuesday, the maid opened the door to check on the room. There was his stuff in there but no one there. She checked the bathroom, and there was blood everywhere. She was very scared. This is the first time anything like that has happened here. We called 911, they told us to check his pulse but there was nothing. The paramedics and the police came, and they said he was dead.” Nobody in the crew or among the guests heard the noise of a gunshot, according to Rakesh who wished to be recognized by his first name. “Maybe he did it during the day on Monday. It’s a busy, loud road outside here, it’s possible nobody heard it because of that,” he said.

Boss, 40, inquired if any rooms were available at around 9.20 am on Monday before making his way from his nearby home. Rakesh added that Boss seemed “completely normal” and “calm” during their conversation. “When we knocked on the door there was no response,” Rakesh told Daily Mail. “The maid opened the door and there was his stuff still in the room.” Boss shot himself in the head, according to a second employee, and the manager added that it happened in the bathroom. They claimed that he checked into the motel on Monday under his own name and that he was not found until Tuesday morning.

The sight was described as "pretty bad" by workers at the motel who claimed that he "shot himself in the head" but that no one heard the gunshot. Boss left his house on Monday without his car and when he didn't come home by Tuesday — vanished overnight — his wife hurried to report him missing. The devastated wife and kids at Boss' six-bedroom Encino home were being cared for by family members when they arrived on Wednesday morning. They were greeted by his son, who had run out to meet them while in tears.
