LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss has died after allegedly suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday, December 13. The news was confirmed by his wife Allison Holker Boss who referred to him as the most important member of the family: "He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans." The 40-year-old dance icon soared to fame on the show 'So You Think You Can Dance' and as a guest DJ for The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014, and eventually went on to become a permanent member until the very end. Moreover, he was designated co-executive producer in 2020.
He rose to fame as a contestant on 'So You Think You Can Dance in 2008', where he also met his wife who was a co-contestant for the show. "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," said Boss' wife, Allison Holker Boss. She adds, "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. "To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt."

Allison, 34, appealed for privacy during the hardest of times for the family: "To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children." Stephen, on Monday, December 12, shared his last Instagram post, where he danced with his wife and captioned it, "HOLIDAY SUNDAY FUNDAY DANCE !!! With my love." The pair can be seen dancing to Alicia Keys’ song 'December Back 2 June', while surrounded by Christmas décor in their living room, reported People.
Fans’ heartbreaking reactions poured in as many shared Stephen’s last reel, one said, "Sisssssssster my heart is broken. I’m sooooo sorry." Another said, "Heart shattering!!!! Allison my heart is with you!!!!!” “Words can’t express my sadness. my love and prayers to you, Allison and the children,” added another. One more fan wrote, “Crying for you and the kids. My heart is broken. I’m so sorry. Twitch is one of the reasons I dance. my heart. Here for you now and always.” The love and support kept coming in for the family on social media was immense, “Love you so much Allison. My heart is with you & your family. Sending you all of my strength & prayers.” One more said, “@allisonholker we’re shocked, devastated, heartbroken. We’re here for you and your family, ANYTHING you need.”
Stephen is survived by his wife Allison, son Maddox, and Zaia. He was also a stepdad to Allison’s teenage daughter, Weslie Fowler, from a previous relationship.
