The author of 'The Dark Half' has been immersed in the debate about Russia's invasion of Ukraine for the past week. "For the first time in a long and infamous career, Putin looks stupid," King wrote a day before he posted his photo. "It must be shocking to him," he concluded.

"Tucker Carlson is being quoted on Russian TV, justifying the cowardly Russian beatdown in Ukraine," he remarked on Twitter last week while watching Fox News. "He's our very own Tokyo Rose," the author said. His support comes as Hollywood looks to be standing firm in the face of the attacks in Ukraine. Several theatre releases by Disney scheduled to be released in Russia have been put on hold on Monday.

According to a Disney statement, "Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing the release of theatrical films in Russia, including the upcoming Turning Red from Pixar. We will make future business decisions based on the evolving situation. In the meantime, given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis, we are working with our NGO partners to provide urgent aid and other humanitarian assistance to refugees."

On Monday, it was also reported that Warner Bros. would not be releasing their highly awaited superhero film 'The Batman' in Russia. The decision comes as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues, and it follows Disney's decision to halt forthcoming releases in the country. 'The Batman', starring Robert Pattinson, was set to premiere in Russia on March 3 as part of the film's worldwide release. 'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore' (April 14) and the animated 'DC League of Super-Pets' are two more Warner Bros. films set for release in Russia (May 19).

"In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film 'The Batman' in Russia," a WarnerMedia representative stated in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy."

Meanwhile, King's most recent book 'Billy Summers' is about an Iraq war veteran who becomes a hitman after leaving the military.
