Stefano Gabbana, one half of Dolce & Gabbana, calls Selena Gomez "ugly"
As celebrities, you really have to come to terms with the fact that online trolls are everywhere and there is no exact way to deal with them other than to thicken your skin.
However, as celebrities — or even their fans — you do not expect top fashion designers to troll you on social media.
Stefano Gabbana, who makes for one half of the luxury fashion label Dolce & Gabbana, seems to be rewriting these expectations, having called pop singer, actress, and producer Selena Gomez "ugly" on Instagram.
The Catwalk Italia posted a collage of Selena's various red carpet appearances in which she is donning red dresses. Stefano commented on the photo, “è proprio brutta!!!" which translates from Italian to, “She’s so ugly!!!”
The Selenators were obviously quick to jump to her rescue and went to retaliate with comments such as, "Never judge people by appearance. It's so stupid!!!! Selena was and will be queen. Also, she is a wonderful person with a big heart 💙😭. So go to hell gabbana🐷🤦🏻♀️."
Another fan added, "This type of behavior from someone of your position is disgusting and disrespectful. Whether you’re speaking of a celebrity or anyone else, it’s wrong. I hope outlets such as @enews @voguemagazine @vanityfair @tmz_tv @fashion_week and others are aware of your “ugly” behavior so that they can caution other celebrities to make a choice to not promote a brand created such an awful hearted person. #kindnessdoesntcostadamnthing#everyoneisbeautiful #cyberbully #dandgcyberbully"
Meanwhile, another commenter pointed out his hypocrisy, "@stefanogabbana you're such a hypocrite, in the 5th photo she's wearing one of YOUR DESIGNS, and yet you have the audacity to call her ugly? GET YOUR S**T TOGETHER!!! She's young, talented and beautiful, it doesn't matter if you like her or not but keep your opinions to yourself... You're over!"
Stefano is yet to apologize or retract his comment. From his response to some of the initial comments attacking him, we are fairly certain that he is far from regretful of his actions.
Moreover, he seems to be on a roll when it comes to being catty. Last week, the same Instagram account has shared a photo of Kate Moss, who is one of the most established models in the world.
In the caption, they asked their followers if they would give her look, complete with a plunging V-neck little black dress and matching black pumps, a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down. To this Stefano wrote a simple yet stinging "No" in the comments section.
Although not as animated as the Selenators, Kate Moss fans too, took it upon themselves to defend their diva. Many accused the designer of being jealous of the fact that she is not wearing one of his dresses.
We would not hold our breaths for an apology if we were either of these ladies, considering Stefano has a history of being controversial.
