'Star Wars' Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher to be honored with star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: All the 'Star Wars' fans must be extremely happy as 'Star Wars' actress, Carrie Fisher will be posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony on May 4, also known as 'Star Wars' Day. Nonetheless, the actress was widely known for her portrayal as Princess Leia Organa was one of the Rebel Alliance's greatest leaders, fearless on the battlefield and dedicated to ending the tyranny of the Empire. Furthermore, Leia's slave costume when she is held captive by Jabba the Hutt at the beginning of 'Return of the Jedi'- made of brass and dubbed Leia's "Metal Bikini" or "Gold Bikini" that immediately made the character (and Fisher) a "generational sex symbol" celebrated by pin-up posters, and later merchandising and cosplay. According to DailyMail, the late actress Carrie Fisher will be posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The writer/actress will receive the posthumous honor next week on 'Star Wars' Day, May 4. Fisher's daughter, actress Billie Lourd, will accept the star on behalf of her mom, and guest speakers will be announced soon.
Mark Hamill congratulated his 'Star Wars' co-star
Mark Hamill, who starred alongside Fisher as Luke Skywalker, celebrated the honor on Twitter, saying it was: "Long overdue & so well-deserved." Hamill received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018, while Ford, 80, had his ceremony in 2003. Reynolds earned her first star in 1960 for her film work. Fisher's will be the 2,754th star to be installed. Regardless,Fisher died December 27, 2016, at the age of 60. Reynolds died of a stroke one day after Fisher's death.
