Minecraft YouTuber Dream launches music career with 'Roadtrip' song, fans ask 'anything he can't do'
In 2018, the 30-year-old set a new record for the “Fastest time to make and display 10 cakes in Minecraft (PC Edition)” with a time of three minutes 51 seconds. As per Guinness World Records, he also holds the record for “Most viewed Terraria video” with 9,593,008 views as of April 24, 2018. “It feels fantastic to be a Guinness World Records title holder! I grew up reading all of the books and it was always something I was aware of, and I never thought I would actually be in the book with my very own title,” Garrett had said then.
Speaking to Guinness, Garrett had said, “I did YouTube for a really long time with almost no-one watching! The time people really started watching was when I started doing Minecraft videos. People must have liked something that I was doing because a lot of people started watching.” Garrett had created his first YouTube channel on August 3, 2006. It was called Stampylongnose. Initially, his channel consisted of live-action comedy skits, but he soon transitioned to the gaming genre.
"When I first started doing my YouTube videos they were actually a bunch of videos I'd made; just little animations, short films with my friends at school. I was making YouTube videos before I had a YouTube channel -- and then finally I had a place to share them!" he said. "I decided to call myself Stampy because a really long time ago when I was at school I made an animation with a character called Stampy."
Stampylonghead’s net worth
As per Naibuzz.com, Garrett has an estimated net worth of $16 million. However, WealthyGenius.com states that as of 2021, his net worth is approximately £11 million pounds ($14 million dollars). As per Naibuzz.com, Garrett’s channel averages 800,0000 views daily, which translates into earnings of around $3,200 per day ($1.2 million a year) on an average.
The report says that YouTube content creators based in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia generally get paid $2 – $12 per 1,000 monetized views after YouTube takes its cut. Monetized views usually range from 40 percent to 80 percent of the total views.
In a 2017 interview, Garrett said that he "never intended Minecraft to become a focus but I fell in love with the game and so did my audience. It made sense to put more of a focus on Minecraft than other games". He added in the same interview, "I realized pretty early on after starting let's play videos that it could be a career. Even though I still had another job and wasn't making much money doing YouTube, I could see the speed at which my channel started to grow. At that point, I quit my job and put almost all my time into creating videos."
