If you don’t already know him, Dream is one of the most popular Minecraft 'speedrunning' streamers out there. He just hit 17 million subscribers on Youtube but that apparently was not enough. He has now launched a new YouTube channel 'Dream Music', following fellow YouTubers like Wilbur Soot who have diversified their content to get more subscribers across multiple monetized Youtube channels.

Back in November 2020, when he was racking his head on how to "gain more followers", he said the only way was to "start making music." He was encouraged by Wilbur Soot who said he had good "annunciation". These since-deleted tweets were screenshotted by a Dream fan on Twitter with the caption: "he did it :) #ROADTRIP". One fan commented: #ROADTRIP is fire!!!! Is there anything Dream can’t do, I’m so proud of him!! Can’t wait till it’s on Spotify!", while another said: "Dream, seriously that’s so good. I can’t believe you never sang sooner, wtf you’re awesome. You really can do just about everything, well except buy shampoo, but you know what I mean."

Who is PmBata who Dream created 'Roadtrip' with?

Dream, who has never revealed his face, collaborated with an artist PmBata, who describes himself/herself as "not famous but billboard probable rapper/songwriter from the midwest", specifically Kansas City according to his Twitter bio. He also shot an Instagram video about the collab with Dream that happened online after Dream messaged him out of the blue. In the Instagram video, PmBata says he was "starstruck" and the experience was "like a Dream". The track was apparently recorded online via Discord. Dream asked PmBata what he needed to record and got a list. "The next day he had EVERYTHING", PmBata revealed on Twitter.

Not the first time Dream has sung for fans

The song Dream has dropped is a nostalgic one about a past road trip with an ex and how the "interstate is now paved with memories". It is not the most inventive of songs, but Dream fans are gushing about how good he sounds on the track especially since he was very shy about singing on a karaoke stream.

Yup, Dream has debuted his singing voice in a stream before. A Twitter user posted a clip from the impromptu karaoke, saying: "I wake up to find out Dream is releasing a song He was so good during karaoke i’m so excited omg". Another tweet commented: "i love how during the karaoke stream dream was all shy with singing and lots of us thought were never gonna actually hear him sing for real BUT LOOK AT HIM NOW, MAKING A WHOLE ASS SONG AND I'M SO HAPPY FOR HIM", while another user said: "just realized we’re getting like REAL dream singing content. not just him mumbling sweater weather on a karaoke stream.... don’t talk to me right now".

Is Dream rebranding as a music artist?

The new music video shows that Dream might be trying some rebranding since one eagle-eyed fan spotted a change up in Dream's two Twitter account handles. Dream's main Twitter account @Dream is now promoting his music video, while his secondary @dreamwastaken handle is now devoted to Minecraft tweets. The fan on Twitter wrote: "so is his “main” his music/artist acc and his “second” his minecraft account now? was that the rebranding???? IM SO ???" There were nearly 225 retweets of his theory and a string of replies agreeing with Dream's new career shift. One tweet said: "he literally switched up the definition of streaming huh ??? 1M listens on spotify LMAO", while another commented: "NOOO WHAT NO IS HE ACTUALLY BECOMING AN ARTISTWTF THAT WOULD BE SO COOL"
