'Southern Charm' Finale: Should Leva Bonaparte return for Season 8? Fans call her 'desperate' over racism spiel

Leva and Kathryn's unending feud on racism has left fans exhausted

Leva Bonaparte's narrative on 'Southern Charm' Season 7 was arguably one of the most stretched and repetitive storylines. She can feel passionately about a subject but at the same time does she know where to stop? Fans are tired of her spiel on racism and the way she is always behind Kathryn Dennis for sending a monkey emoji to radio host and being related to JC Calhoun, an American politician from South Carolina who defended slavery.

Unfortunately, Danni Baird, who has been a good friend to Kathryn, got pulled into the drama. Leva reprimanded her for coddling Kathryn, protecting her and not questioning her actions. "I have nothing against her" and "I don't believe in cancel culture," Leva said as she continued to be surprised how easily and confidently Kathryn walked into John Pringle's pool party.

It all began with the Calhoun statue that sat right at the center of Charleston. While she was happy when it was being brought down, there was a concern somewhere about Kathryn and how she should have been a part of the event.  “I think the statue coming down could really be a moment of healing for our community. It could be a really powerful first step in this particular city,” Bonaparte said in the episode. While her initial efforts to fight racism were met with positive comments, with time fans turned and started to reject her thoughts and conversations on 'Southern Charm.'

Leva, an Indian-born Persian who has lived in Canada and Bolivia, knew it would happen. Talking to People, she said she was apprehensive about speaking up and was aware of the hate it would bring but she addressed those issues nevertheless. “We're just trying to all figure it out and do better,” Leva told the publication and added: “So I'm hoping the viewer identifies with that and just knows that we can have hit these awkward topics and have these awkward conversations and still come out with a net positive.”

Meanwhile, fans have weighed with their two cents on the matter. "Worst season yet...between Leva repeating the same conversation for 7 episodes & and Madison being ME,ME,ME. Definitely Not the same show. Bring back more of Whitney and Patricia instead of annoying Leva and Madison.#SouthernCharm," a fan commented, while another shared: "Leva ain't woke y'all. She said at the start she would go after Kat hard for the Cam hubby cheating rumor. Kat just so happened to give her & show producers the ammo & their storylines without continuing to mention Cam or perpetuating the rumor. #SouthernCharm."

"#SouthernCharm Hey everyone for season 8 the Producers need to just keep the originals Shep Craig Kathryn get rid of Austin Madison Leva John Pringle & bring in new cast members," a user tweeted. "Adding Leva was an epic fail. I for one will no longer watch if she returns. SHE. IS. VILE! This narrative she CREATED is not what #SouthernCharm is about. DESPERATE!," another posted.
