GYEONGGI, SOUTH KOREA: Korean model and actor Ye Hak-young reportedly died on December 24 at the age of 40. According to reports, his death was belatedly revealed, but it took place on Saturday morning. The exact cause of his death is unknown and yet to be disclosed.

The mortuary has been set up at the Sungsim Hospital of Hallym University in Anyang, Gyeonggi-do. When the news of his sudden demise circulated, his acquaintances gathered to bid him farewell. Apparently, the actor will be buried at the Xi’an Family Memorial Park in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, reports Alkpop.

Hak-young began his career through his debut as a model in the Seoul Collection in 2001 and rose to popularity as a top model alongside Kang Dong-won, Gong-yoo, and Ju Ji-hoon. Following his fame, he went on to become an actor as he appeared in sitcoms like 'Nonstop 4' and movies such as 'Cadaver,' 'Like Father, Like Son,' and 'Horny Family.'

However, the actor was charged with smuggling and administering drugs such as ketamine and ecstasy and was later arrested in 2009. He had to step away from his professional career following the arrest when he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison with four years of probation, and community service of 200 hours, as per Kbizoom.

He again made his appearance in Mnet's 'Serenade Operation', marking his comeback in 2011 along with tvN’s 'Korea’s Got Talent 2' in Seoul in 2012. However, the actor was taken under custody in 2019 without detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act after he was found drunk driving a motorcycle near Sowol-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
