Reacting to Edwards' death, one person tweeted, "29 year olds don't just "suddenly die". Are people not good at puzzles?" Another one guessed if Edwards' took a vaccine and that might be the reason behind his death and wrote, "Wonder if he took the jab?"

While one came up with a bizarre theory and wrote, "The other day I saw someone drink a glass of water and then get a heart attack the next day... Water must cause heart attacks," another tweet read, "Guys, he was a rugby player. It was most likely a brain injury or blood clot."

One person tweeted, "I'd like to see the statistics of young athletes dying of cardiac arrest prior to 2021, to compare to the last couple years if possible, & also prior to 2020 before Covid. I'd really like to see those 3 sets of numbers. I'm so sorry for this young man & many others dying early." Claiming to be Edwards' neighbour in the past, one said, "Tom was my neighbour for a few years when I lived in Barlby, I'm devastated for his family. He was one of the fittest humans you'd ever met, he once helped me erect a boundary fence, was a tree surgeon and rugby player. Died suddenly is just not possible without an explanation!"
