Is the Snyderverse officially DEAD? Fans fear the worst as James Gunn era begins at DC
BURBANK, CALIFORNIA: DC fans fear the worst as Warner Bros. Discovery announced that 'The Suicide Squad' director James Gunn and 'Peacemaker' producer Peter Safran will be the new department heads of DC Studios. This comes after Walter Hamada’s exit from DC Studios. While some saw this as an opportunity for Zack Snyder to finally come back, it was Gunn who took over.
Snyder was set to direct five DC Universe films, known as the Snyder-Verse. However, to fans' disappointment, this was cut short after he exited 'Justice League' due to a family tragedy, while the movie was in the middle of post-production. Since then, fans have continued to hope for Snyder's return.

Meanwhile, Patty Jenkins’ 'Wonder Woman 3' is not moving forward and is being considered dead in its current incarnation, it is being claimed. According to sources, Jenkins just submitted her treatment, co-written with Geoff Johns. However, Gunn and Safran, along with Warner Bros Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, have told the filmmaker that the project did fail to fit in with the new plans. The previous two movies, which starred Gal Gadot, were directed and co-written by Jenkins. They were released in 2017 and 2020.
Should the third installment not be made, DC Studios can end up saving tens of millions of dollars, insiders said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sources said that While Gal Gadot was on track for a $20 million payday for the third film, Jenkins was set to get $12 million.
On December 6, Galdot tweeted, "A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman.I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU.The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you". It is unclear whether the actress knew about the new developments in the project.

The news made fans wonder whether Snyder-Verse is officially dead, with one saying, tagging Gunn on Twitter, "This would be the worst decision ever". "Literally all they need to do is bring back Zack Snyder for one more final film to close off his Justice League arc, and ideally release David Ayer's Suicide Squad, and they secure my loyalty forever. Without that though, nah," another wrote. One user wrote, "Snyderverse will end up being a great Hollywood disaster story. Money wasted, IP squandered, brands damaged. Just an enormous mess."

"James Gunn right now snapping the Snyderverse out of existence," one user wrote, while another said, "So, the Snyderverse is dead. Soon to be buried. I can't say I didn't see this coming, but it still hurts like hell." "Snyderverse is completely dead. It was fun while it lasted and the friends made along the way were worth it," one user said.
