A source close to Simon Cowell has revealed that he is back on his feet just a week after a horrific accident that resulted in multiple back injuries for the 'Britain's Got Talent' boss. The 60-year old entertainment manager and TV personality was rushed to the hospital following the accident where he underwent a five-hour surgery. Cowell is back up "walking around again," according to an insider close to him.

A friend of the 'America's Got Talent' judge recently revealed that he is "very happy to be back home with his family in the fresh sea air" of Malibu, California, according to a PEOPLE's report. Cowell fell off an electric bike in the courtyard of his Malibu home on August 8 and the same night, a source told the outlet that he had to have a "number of fusions and metal rod put into his back."

"He's been able to walk quite a lot and quicker than the experts had expected him to do after this type of major surgery, which is a great sign for the healing coming along well," Cowell's friend says. The father of one didn't take part in the first week of AGTs live show and country singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson filled in for him. However, this didn't mean he was missing out on the action on the show.

He caught up on the August 11 and 12 episodes of the talent show from his hospital bed and the show's production arranged for some special deliveries to ensure he feels as included as possible. "The AGT production team had even sent him a giant X and a Golden Buzzer," Cowell's friend says. The friend also revealed that he was "delighted" and "very grateful" to Clarkson for having stepped in for him. Cowell personally thanked the singer via a tweet that said, "Thank you @kellyclarkson. Miss all of you. What a Great Show. #AGT."

Dishing on how Cowell plans to spend his time while recovering, the friend said that his six-year-old son already has a plan chalked out and he's put together a list of movies to watch together. "Muppets Most Wanted was top of the list which they both love," the friend said. Cowell publically addressed his injury two days after the accident via a tweet. He wrote, "Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages."

'America's Got Talent' Season 15 airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on NBC and Cowell's participation for the rest of the season is yet to be determined.
