Shawn Mendes rocks all-black look with edgy buzzcut as singer goes for a stroll in West Hollywood
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Shawn Mendes recently said goodbye to his iconic curls and debuted a dramatically different hairstyle that accentuates his facial features. The 'Treat You Better' hitmaker was spotted out in West Hollywood on Friday, January 27, sporting all black and his new buzzcut.
The 24-year-old musician strolled down the city's walkways shaded by trees while dressed almost entirely in black. Mendes stepped out wearing a long-sleeved shirt, a pair of athletic shorts, and slip-on shoes with matching socks. He had on a pair of dark sunglasses to shield his eyes from the California sun.

Back in October 2014, Mendes tweeted about getting a buzz cut, however, he did not appear to be a fan of the idea even in the slightest. "Had a dream someone buzzed all my hair off, freaked a lil haha," he wrote.

The edgy shaved-off look could be a very last-minute decision as only a month ago the 'Stitches' singer was seen sporting his trademark curls in a video of himself taking a dip in the snow on the side of a river. In the video shared on December 26, 2022, Mendes can be seen taking deep breaths before ditching his brown sweater only to be left with a pair of black boxers. He then walks into the stream and submerges himself in the ice-cold water for the 'polar bear plunge.' Mendes screams, "Whoo! It's cold!" after lowering himself into the rushing waves to absorb the full experience. The clip concluded right after Mendes confesses that he "can't feel a thing" and puts his winter clothes back on. He captioned the clip, saying, "MERRY CHRISTMAS."
The performer's most recent single 'When You're Gone' was first made available to the general public in March of last year. In an interview with Grammy, Mendes discussed writing the song and mentioned that he intended for each listener to perceive it in a different way. "I want people to think about what [When You're Gone] means, and think about how it affects them, and how it relates to them," he said.
The musician continued by saying that he was continuosly working to become a better songwriter and that the great response to one of his well-known hits 'In My Blood' contributed to his motivation as an artist. "Every single song [I've written] after that one, the number one rule is, this has to be true. This has to be real. This has to be authentic," he said.
