LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After days of speculations, Shawn Mendes, 24, finally breaks his silence regarding the dating rumor with ‘Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying’ singer Sabrina Carpenter, 23. On Friday, March 17, the ‘Stitches’ singer opened up about the dating rumor during a TV program.
The Canadian singer-songwriter ends all speculations by remarking, “We are not dating," on the show 'RTL Boulevard'. Later, he added, “but I think we should talk about Tommy Hilfiger probably more than Sabrina,” referring to his latest collaboration with the luxury fashion brand, to bring out the ‘Tommy X Shawn Classics Reborn’ capsule collection. Carpenter, however, has not reacted to the said rumor.

How did the rumor spark?
The teenage heartthrob singers duo sparked dating rows when the Instagram gossip account ‘Deuxmoi’ first broke the news they have been secretly dating. One user messaged the account in February, “Spotted Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter on clearly a date at Horses anon pls,” reports Cosmopolitan. On being further asked, the user divulged, “Sabrina was in a little brown mini skirt and clearly was Shawn newly shaved head wearing white sweater." The user further added, “They were very comfortable."
Following that, Mendes and Carpenter were also reportedly seen walking in the streets of Los Angeles where they could be seen in casual attires. The duo was spotted together last week at Miley Cyrus’ ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ album release party on March 9, in Beverly Hills. Mendes was waiting for Carpenter in the entrance of the Gucci store where the party was held as she followed him later, Page Six reports.
Mendes and Carpenter’s dating history
Carpenter, who is allegedly single for the last year, was previously romantically linked with ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ star Joshua Bassett.
Mendes on the other hand, dated Camilla Cabello for more than two years before they broke up in November 2021. The ‘In My Blood’ singer was also linked to 51-year-old chiropractor Dr Jocelyne Miranda.
