Are 'Shawmila' rekindling their past romance?
The 'Senorita' pair's steamy kiss occurs more than a year after they jointly announced their separation after more than two years of dating. Prior to beginning their relationship in July 2019, Mendes and Cabello were friends for several years. Throughout the summer, they were seen engaging in a lot of PDA, and in August of that year, they made their first significant public appearance as a couple at the MTV Video Music Awards, where they gave a duet performance of 'Senorita.' However, Mendes and Cabello declared their separation on Instagram in November 2021.
The statement, which they both shared on their Instagram Stories, read, "Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward Camila and Shawn." This news came right after fans had spotted the couple making out in Miami earlier that month.
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's relationship timeline
In 2014, while on tour with Cabello and Fifth Harmony, Mendes made light of the fact that he at first thought she was "insane" and "crazy." The duo's debut collaboration, 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' was released when Cabello was still a member of Fifth Harmony. She quit the group in December 2016. However, Mendes labeled Cabello 'girlfriend material' two years after 'IKWYDLS', but he also acknowledged the two were "just really good friends," as per People.
In their 2019 duet 'Senorita', Cabello and Mendes portray lovers who are unable to separate. The couple appeared on the cover of V Magazine to promote their new song. The two were frequently seen having some PDA when they promoted the track. The couple was reportedly spotted holding hands in Los Angeles in early July, again holding hands on the Fourth of July, and then sharing a passionate kiss on a beach in Cabello's hometown of Miami. Later that year, Mendes revealed to a crowd in Australia that he and Cabello began dating on July 4th, as per the outlet.

A third fan wrote, "Idk who needs to hear this but you can kiss your exes and not be back together the same way you can kiss people you aren’t dating." Another fan wrote, "They both been flopping lately so now they’re trying to have a senorita 2.0 moment. watch them release a collab in the next couple weeks." "I will always have a soft spot for this two #shawmila Their love is genuine they were just so young," wrote another one. Someone else tweeted, "I don’t understand why people are hating them, it’s their relationship, their choice and their life, just let them live and be happy with whoever they want to be, stop hating because it doesn’t look good on anyone." Humorist & writer Myke Thompson tweeted, "Maybe it's just the Euphoria lighting but I'm getting 'Pink Superman' vibes from this video."
