Why did Shannon Sharpe block Kevin Durant? Football player ducks out after lying about FAKE quote
Fox Sports Shannon Sharpe has plenty of opinions about sports and engages in fake arguments with co-commentator Skip Bayless. However, the American former professional football player appeared to have fallen for a fake quote attributed wrongly to Kevin Durant. Needless to say, the Brooklyn Nets player was not one bit pleased about it and took to pointing out the error and Sharpe saw red. It led to a Twitter battle between the two on April 12, Monday and Sharpe blocked Durant.
On being asked why he decided to block Durant in the middle of their spat. Sharpe responded, saying: "I’m not gangsta, but I’m not going bck and forth with KD and lose my job either. I’ve had disagreement with other athletes, ppl b4 , we handled it like adults and moved on... “ADULTS”

Sharpe fell for a fake quote
The beef between the two started when Sharpe brought up a quote attributed to the Brooklyn Nets superstar on the FS1 show called 'Undisputed' of which Sharpe is a co-host along with Skip Bayless and Jenny Taft. The quote made it seem like Durant is calling out LeBron James. The quote was on the lines of Durant’s two championship rings being the most important in this generation of players. It implied that he is better than the Los Angeles Lakers' forward LeBron James because the pair of rings came at his expense. The alleged quote attributed to Durant read: “People try to discredit my rings, but honestly I feel like they’re the most valuable of our era,” the quote reads. “People argue LeBron is the GOAT, but if I beat him in back-to-back Finals, then what does that make me?”
Being one of the biggest LeBron fans out there, Sharpe did not agree with the quote at all. A significant portion of the show was spent on Sharpe debating that James is the GOAT, while Bayless argued that it was Michael Jordan.
It’s easy for Kevin Durant to say that now b/c he has the titles. The titles put his mind at ease.

If KD felt like that in the beginning, he would’ve never left OKC to link up with a team that went 73-9 & had some of the greatest shooters to ever live. pic.twitter.com/au82sjXHuW
Durant calls Sharpe 'a drunk uncle'
The basketball player, whose name was being debated upon was very much online and he called Sharpe out for the mistake, according to FTW and they had a back-and-forth on social media. “Y’all drunk uncle out here lying again,” Durant wrote with a clip of the video. “When did I say this?” Their public feud on social media ultimately resulted in Sharpe blocking Durant.
Y’all drunk uncle out here lying again. When did I say this @ShannonSharpe ??????????????????????????? https://t.co/698XHOxcYn

Sharpe in the middle of the spat said he’d talk to Durant about it but not in “the eye of social media.” Durant, clearly, didn’t like that.
KD, IF* you wanna talk to me. I’m not hard to find, but I’m not going bck and forth on social media. Whatever our differences are. They can be handled out of the eye of social media. 👍🏾👍🏾 https://t.co/60CGNzMRg9

"But I’m sensitive," said Durant and shared a screenshot of how he had been blocked.
Sharpe then tweeted: "Y’all remember the fake account when KD said: now everybody wanna play for the heat and Lakers? Let’s go back to being competitive and going at these peoples. Then joins 73-9 warriors and builds Nets into a superpower with Kyrie and Harden. OMG".

However, according to Sharpe, Durant’s reaction to this whole quote and debate was begging that he be blocked by him.
