Selena Gomez tripped and fell to her knees on the SAG Awards red carpet, after which she chose to go barefoot while presenting an award

Selena Gomez went barefoot to present the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor for a Supporting Role with her Hulu costar Martin Short at the SAG Awards, 2022 on Monday, 28 February after she tripped and fell on the red carpet.

Selena Gomez dazzled fans with her black Oscar de la Renta dress and her $1 million Bulgari diamond necklace at the SAG. But fans noticed that Selena ditched her heels for her on-stage presenter duties. The 'Lose You to Love Me' singer, who made an entry on the red carpet wearing black Christian Louboutin's pumps, was later seen barefoot on stage.

During her red carpet entry for the event, Selena tripped and fell to her knees in front of photographers, and lost one of her heels. After regaining her composure, the pop sensation took off her other high heel and continued down the walkway barefoot. After that, she decided to ditch the heels for the night. The singer's fans were mightily impressed with this relatable move and applauded her calling it the "most Selena Gomez thing ever."

The presenter duo of Selena Gomez and Martin Short didn’t let the former's nasty red carpet fall take away from their playful banter on stage. “Who’s excited?” the 71-year-old comedian asked before revealing who won the category. “I’m excited,” Gomez replied, prompting Martin to joke about Hollywood's obsession with Botox. “I’m excited too. Although it’s hard for me to express the excitement because the Botox is fresh,” he said, to which the 'Who Says' singer responded, “Alright, mine too.”

The former Disney star's confidence was appreciated by her fans. "Selena going barefoot infront of some of the biggest celebrities is actually the most selena gomez thing she could do #SAGAwards", a tweet said. One of the singer's fan complimented her saying,  "Selena presenting barefoot is the most selena gomez thing ever"." That's why she's selena Gomez and I love her for that", another fan wrote. Another tweet remarked, "Is Selena Gomez barefoot? Love it. F**k heels. Gah, I love Martin Short. #SAGAwards". Similarly, a 'Selenator' cheering her, said: "IS SELENA BAREFOOT. iconic. 😂 #SelenaGomez #SAGAwards".

Nicole Kidman, who was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in Being The Ricardos, was later seen without her heels too while chatting with Gomez during the event. “Nicole Kidman shows solidarity to Selena Gomez and goes barefoot as well after Selena’s heels broke earlier tonight!  Queens!  #SAGAwards,” one Twitter user wrote.

While fans are happy and are calling Selena 'Iconic', some people are confused and some thinks that she is doing it for the attention. "How much attention does #selenagomez need?", a user tweeted. Another wrote, "Lol wtf".
