SDCC 2019: If Arrow final season criticized like Game of Thrones’, Stephen Amell would’ve done a good job, the Emerald Archer jokes

Many ‘Game of Thrones’ fans were highly disappointed by the show’s final season (even though it received a record number of Emmy nominations) but it seems Amell, who plays billionaire vigilante Oliver Queen, is not one of them. During the panel, Amell revealed he quite liked it.

While fans of ‘Arrow’ are understandably distraught about the series coming to an end, it seems The CW show’s star Stephen Amell is happy to be going out on a high note. Speaking at the ‘Arrow’ panel during San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Amell made some very sarcastic quips comparing the superhero show to ‘Game of Thrones’.

Many ‘Game of Thrones’ fans were highly disappointed by the show’s final season (even though it received a record number of Emmy nominations) but it seems Amell, who plays billionaire vigilante Oliver Queen, is not one of them. During the panel, Amell revealed he quite liked the final ‘Game of Thrones’ season. He also joked that if everyone were to hate the final season of ‘Arrow’, he will know that he did a good job.

A trailer for ‘Arrow’ season 8 was released during the panel, which also gave fans their first look at an older version of John Diggle’s son John Diggle Jr, nicknamed ‘J.J.’, played by Charlie Barnett. The final season will follow Oliver’s journey through the Multiverse, preparing worlds for the upcoming ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’, the major crossover event of the year in which Ollie is expected to meet his doom.

The panel revealed that they “wanted to leave the party when the party was still going”, which is why they wanted to end now. While that is a decision that brought tears to the eyes of many fans, the sentiment is ultimately understandable considering how so many shows have ended up getting dragged out way past their prime.

Amell will be back under the hood of the Emerald Archer for the latest outing, while Emily Bett Rickards, who plays Felicity Smoak, will not be appearing in the final season. Other cast members include Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Echo Kellum as Curtis, David Ramsay as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake, Colton Haynes as Roy Harper, Kirk Acevedo as Ricardo Diaz, and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance. Colin Donnel and Josh Segarra have also been confirmed to return.

Season 8 of ‘Arrow’ will begin airing on The CW October.
