#SayNoToLono: Twitch streamer SayNoToRage accused of sexual harassment, Internet says his silence speaks volumes
Women took to Twitter, opening up about their experiences, and while some made fans emotional, others were angry they had associated themselves with Twitch streamer Lono aka SayNoToRage in the first place.
"I just wanted to play TLOU and now all I can think about is the time I played an entire card game with a notable streamer's hand on my thigh the whole time and was then basically asked for sex oh and it was Lono so there you all go," tweeted one woman about her experience with streamer Lono. This sent emotional waves rippling through the comments as the Twitter community lined up to share their support. "I’m glad the women who were harassed are speaking up. Sorry that you guys went through this from that scumbag. You girls are brave and we got your back!! #SayNoToLono", tweeted a user.
An even heavier post can be read here, where a woman attached a document detailing her experience, tweeting, "Here's my story, it's long." The document titled, 'My Experiences With SayNoToRage' had an email the woman had sent to the streamer. Another woman posted about her experience tweeting, "It's so tricky, you're like 'well it could be worse' or whatever the f*** but harassment is harassment is harassment."
"I am so proud of the women that have come forward and told their truth tonight. Let’s get that piece of shit out of this community. It shouldn’t have happened ever but we will make sure it doesn’t happen again! #SayNoToLono" tweeted one user with another one adding to the thread writing, "God all of brave women coming forward, I can't believe some people manage to get so far while being so scummy. Happily unfollowing and blocking SayNoToRage. Absolutely does not deserve to be a part of the Destiny Community. #SayNoToLono #SayNoToSexualHarassment #SayNoToRapist"
His followers were absolutely enraged with tweets flooding the social media channel. "In a short form Lono has been harassing women for sex, and various sexual advances, someone who’s high in the content creators of destiny just shot himself in the foot," tweeted one user.
"HOLY F*** !!! I honestly didn't expect tonight to a night like this. But @SayNoToRage who I enjoyed watching, I cannot watch anymore. I wanna thank all the women who came out and told their stories. Please, men, keep others safe from the man. Yes, I am singling you out #SayNoToLono," wrote another user.
"To all harassment victims, to all women, to all people affected, I just wanna say to you all have my support in all ways possible I may be a random Twitter user and not a 'popular streamer' so maybe no one will see this but you guys have my support! Much love #SayNoToLono," tweeted another supporter.
While there is always a divide in opinion where people wait for "proven until guilty" verdicts, some took the time to pay a bit closer attention to the #believewomen movement. "Men need to understand, just because these men might be your friends, or role models or etc., they cannot turn a blind eye. It is not enough to not be a predator, we need to actively call out and eradicate predators wherever we see them. #SayNoToLono #BelieveWomen," tweeted a user.
Twitter users didn't waste time in calling the streamer out, as his many endorsement deals took to the social media channel to express their support and that they will not be working with Lono anymore. "Lono will not be returning as a guest on FTC. His behavior was not acceptable. I’m very disturbed by the news coming out tonight and I believe what’s being said," tweeted the verified page Destin.
"While respecting the wishes of those wronged by Lono to not speak out until they were ready, we at RD revoked his creator rights at our event. We did everything we legally could to protect more from experiencing the same. I’m so proud of these ladies for telling their stories," tweeted the verified page of Gothalion.
The streamer seemed to have acted fast as Twitter blew up with #SayNoToLono. "Lono is in his Twitch chat. Went from Slow Mode, to Followers-Only, to Emote-Only. Dude is trying so hard to damage control and it's only making it worse. #SayNoToLono" tweeted one observant user with another one adding, "@SayNoToRage Shutting off your DM’s won’t work. Silence speaks volumes".
