Savannah Guthrie reveals REAL skin without makeup after she overslept and almost missed 'Today' show
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Savannah Guthrie was lauded by her fans for keeping it real after she shared a photo of herself without TV makeup.
In a series of natural-looking photos, the Today co-host revealed how she overslept and nearly missed her live show on Thursday, August 11. The 50-year-old newscaster shared some candid moments on Instagram as she rushed to the set. One of the images showed her in the back of her car just 26 minutes before her NBC morning show was due to go on air.

"Overslept big time, it's 6:34 am and I'm still in the car," Savannah captioned an Instagram Story as she shared a photo of herself, smiling with no makeup. Viewers could see natural lines under her eyes as well as beauty marks, while her blonde hair looked a tad darker than usual. She appeared to be wearing a gold necklace that loosely hung by her casual black dress. However, the look was a far cry from the glitz and glam of network TV. The host continued to document the episode as she shared another candid video of her running into the building. She held her hands up and smiled while wearing a bucket hat with a large tote bag. After making it to her workplace, she was glammed up by the so-called "miracle workers" of her makeup team and was later heard exclaiming as she walked onto the set at 6:54 am. "This is a miracle!" The entire ordeal was compiled in an Instagram post. "This is Thursday #hotmess," she wrote in the caption.
Savannah's fans gushed at her for keeping it real with them and looking natural in the process.
"Oooh this is refreshing and well done for making it and doing a fab job every day!!" one wrote in the comments section.
"Glad you made it right on time!! My Thursday wouldn’t have been the same! ☕️," another added.
"I love that you are so real! We all oversleep sometimes," someone else offered.
One, however, wrote, "Great but now work on the humility and kindness," possibly referring to her rumored feud with co-host Hoda Kotb.
Nonetheless, Savannah's co-host Craig Melvin couldn't resist cracking a joke at her expense. “You almost had the morning off as well," he said, before explaining the situation to viewers. “Savannah Guthrie rolled in about 15 minutes ago. She overslept. She is normal," he quipped. Savannah admitted she was a “big ole mess” as she didn’t have hair and makeup done before being glammed up.

Savannah's co-host Hoda was out last week amid rumors of a growing feud between the two. Speaking to The Sun, a source close to the production said they secretly "can't stand each other" despite their "sunny dispositions" on air. According to the insider, Savannah "thinks of herself as a real news person," while Hoda is perceived as "the lightweight that drank wine with Kathy Lee Gifford."
Viewers couldn't help but notice the apparent tension between the colleagues in recent weeks, aside from the anchors taking turns being absent from the morning show. Some have called them out for seemingly avoiding each other on set and are calling for one of them to be fired, according to The Sun.
