Andrew Wert replaces rookie Hannah Gutierrez-Reed as 'Rust' armorer while Alec Baldwin returns to sets
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Andrew Wert, a seasoned industry professional with many movie credits to his name, including 'Mortal Kombat' and 'Terminator' has been confirmed as the new armorer for the troubled western movie 'Rust.' The 54-year-old Wert from Spokane, Washington has been brought in to replace the rookie 26-year-old prop specialist Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.
Following the recent acquittal of 'Rust' star Alec Baldwin, prop specialist Gutierrez-Reed remains the only member of the film crew facing charges for the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, which occurred in October 2021. According to prosecution documents, Gutierrez-Reed is facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter and is accused of careless handling of firearms. The police have attributed the loading of a live bullet into the Colt .45 pistol that fatally shot Hutchins to her. The rookie will have to appear in a preliminary hearing scheduled to begin on August 9 in Santa Fe.
