'I owe everything I have to this woman': Alec Baldwin praises wife Hilaria after charges dropped in ‘Rust’ shooting
SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO: Oscar-nominated Alec Baldwin, 62, who was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter over the fatal 2021 on-set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico set of the movie ‘Rust’, can breathe a sigh of relief after the charges got dropped. The 65-year-old actor soon took to Instagram to thank his wife Hilaria, 39, with whom he has been married since 2012, writing, “I owe everything I have to this woman.” Hilaria also posted a picture with her husband after the ruling with a red heart emoji.
Baldwin and 'Rust' armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were both previously charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis said on Thursday, April 20, that they will dismiss the involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin, but that the office would investigate further and that the charges could be refiled, reports Deadline. The charges of involuntary manslaughter remain against Gutierrez-Reed although her lawyers said that they expect her charges to also be dropped in the near future. The update on Baldwin's charges comes less than two weeks before a trial was set to begin on May 3.

Baldwin's wife Hilaria has been a strong pillar of support for him in the course of his trial. She has often spoken out against his critics online and it is not a surprise then that he chose to thank her for her unwavering support and patience. Why? Here are few instances which show why Baldwin treasures her support.
Hilaria spoke out for Alec after 'Rust' shooting in October 2021
Days after the incident, Hilaria addressed her fears about Alec developing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). At the time, she and her family drove to Vermont from their home in New York City. She told, “I didn’t know where I was going, I just drove. I just drove around and around and around with my kids. I drove around for an entire day trying to find a place," as per New York Post. She further stated, "I brought [Alec] up here because we have to mourn Halyna’s death." "Alec had a really traumatic thing happen, and I am trying to limit the PTSD. You look at what happens to soldiers and police officers when something like this happens, it’s traumatic. We just came up here for quiet. He needs space for me to take care of him and his mental health. It’s an awful thing that happened," she explained. She also shared a picture of them on Instagram and wrote, "I love you and I’m here."
'Alec, we love you'
Hilaria shared a message of gratitude and support for her husband Alec in a post just hours before prosecutors charged him with involuntary manslaughter. She wrote, "I hope you understand how much your support and kindness to Alec and our children mean. Thank you for being our community and our village. You are helping us to be stronger parents and partners during this unimaginable time, stemming from such heartbreaking tragedy. Please know that I hear all of your outspoken words and each and every one of you reminds me daily that there is kindness in the world and we are not alone. Alec, we love you and we are here for you."
'Leave my family in peace'
On January 20, 2023, the day after it was reported Alec would be charged, she and her children got surrounded by a mob of reporters. However, she confronted them saying, as per Stylecaster, "I want you guys to realize we have seven kids and you being here to escort them to school and to be there when they come home is not good,” and continued saying, "So on a human level, you guys know I’m not going to say anything to you. You know that. So please, leave my family in peace and let this all play out, OK? Let me kids come home and stay away from them. Because they ask me, ‘Mommy, what are all these people doing?’ and that’s a very hard thing as a mom to try to explain. So please, go home because I’m not going to say anything.”
