'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 13: Release date, trailer, cast and all you need to know about VH1 reality show

'RuPaul's Drag Race' has returned with a new crop of hopeful queens, who with their lip-syncing, acting and stage performances, are set to win over host-mentor RuPaul Charles and judges. 

Release date

Season 13 of this VH1-backed show will premiere on VH1 on January 1, 2021 starting 8/7c. For more information, check your local listings.

Plot

Like every year, a group of queens will sashay down the runway in makeup looks and fashion pieces created based on the theme given to them. They will be judged on that and their lip-syncing abilities. Every week, a queen will be eliminated by the judges. 

Cast

Lala Ri (VH1)

As many as 13 queens -- Denali, Elliott, Gottmik, Joey Jay, Kahmora Hall, Kandy Muse, LaLa Ri, Olivia Lux, Rosé, Symone, Tamisha Iman, Tina Burner, and Utica Queen -- are participating this season for the big cash prize of $100,000.

The network has released three clips ahead of the premiere and one of which is the first look while the others serve as introductory tapes of the queens who are set to take over the world of drag and beyond with their confident approach and strategic game play.



 

Meanwhile, fans cannot wait for the new season to start mainly because how good the queens look. "This style is so refreshing, the queens look expensive af, I can’t wait," one commented on show's official YouTube page, while another wrote: "This seems more elevated and cutting-edge then the past. Can’t wait!" "This one is so good visually, awesome art direction in the whole promo," another posted. "The way they all look really stuuunnn. Can't wait for this season, seems like a lot of fun uwu," one fan echoed, while another posted: "Ok I love these queen officially obsessed I can’t wait to see the looks they bring to the stage.

Showrunners

It's executive-produced by RuPaul and backed by World of Wonder. "Competing safely and fiercely, our 13 queens proved that it takes more than a global pandemic to keep a good queen down," RuPaul said in a statement.
