Robert Downey Jr's wife Susan says 'Sherlock Holmes 3' is still 'a priority' for actor
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s been a while since Robert Downey Jr blessed his fans with his impeccable antics of playing the world-renowned detective Sherlock Holmes. There have been speculations about Downey returning to play the revered detective in the third installment of the 'Sherlock Holmes' films, but after a decade of no-show, the story has started to look bleak.
'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' came 12 years ago and since then the project has been stalled. The third part has been through development hell and wasn't given a release date until 2018. The project was further pushed to December 2021 and since then; the train has hardly left the station with director Dexter Fletcher stating that he doesn't see Downey’s appetite to do the film.

Susan Downey reassures fans
Robert Downey Jr’s wife and Team Downey producer, Susan Downey along with producer Amanda Burrell appeared on 'Unwrapped' lately and reassured everyone that 'Sherlock Holmes 3' is happening and it is indeed a big priority for Robert. “Well, here’s what I can tell you. And Amanda can attest to this. Prior to this, we had lunch together with Robert, the three of us. And it was a very specific topic of conversation,” Susan said. “So yes, it is in the hopper. We’re going to do it when it’s right, with the right people, but it is a priority for the company and a priority for Robert," she added.
Many fans wanted to know when the movie will go on the floor but Susan and Amanda were hellbent on mentioning that they are both people who “really push, push, push” on any projects at Team Downey, and are always thinking about “What can we do next?” Susan was immensely clear that they will not rush through to the development of the film. They will look for the right script and move ahead with everything in place. "I do know, like, there are times where just I’ve had more years of experience to know when to settle down and follow the process. Like, as much as we want to will that into existence, you have to let a couple of things happen before you do the big push, and maybe it gets there on its own," she said. This should be a positive sign for all the 'Sherlock Holmes' fans who are desperately waiting for the third installment.
