LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Rob Reiner is being trolled on the social media platform for not quitting Twitter as previously promised amid Elon Musk's takeover. The 'Stand by Me' actor had said that he would quit if Elon Musk buys Twitter and yet continues to use the platform to attack his opposition party Republicans, which has gotten many reactions online.

Amid the reports of his interest in one of the most popular social media platforms, which first surfaced in April, Rob Reiner tweeted, “Now that Elon Musk is buying Twitter, the question for all of us is: Will he allow a Criminal who used this platform to lie and spread disinformation to try to overthrow the US Government to return and continue his Criminal activity? And if he does, how do we combat it?”

The 'Sleepless in Seattle' star was then hitting out on the reports that ex-President Donald Trump may be allowed to return to Twitter once Elon Musk takes over and lift his ban. What really got Twitteratis going is his recent tweet, despite Musk buying the platform for a record $44 billion. Reiner tweeted, “Rumor has it that one Sociopathic Pathologically Lying Criminal Racist Misogynistic Fascist is returning to this platform. Let’s celebrate by drowning him in a Blue Wave.”

This opened a floodgates of reactions, with one saying, “Thought you were leaving here once Elon took over. He has, yet here you are.” Another wrote, “Rob Reiner has said if Elon Musk buys twitter he is leaving..anyone want to bet he is nothing more than a bloviating bag of hot air and he won't go anywhere??” Another user said, "He was probably moving to Canada too in 2016.” Another user reacted, “Rob is a shadow of his dad’s gracious personality. Rob wouldn’t understand an honest, bipartisan platform if it hit him upside the head. Poor Rob, so lost within the left’s quagmire.” One Twitter user called Reiner a leftist and wrote, “Typical leftist, threatens to leave if they don’t get their way and then don’t keep their promise. A cry for attention if you ask me.” One more reaction came on Reiner’s tweet, “If Rob Reiner leaves our country, I will personally pay for his one-way ticket to any country of his choosing. I would also start a fundraiser to permanently institutionalize him for his severe TDS and self hatred. The miserable soul needs help. Too bad nurse Ratched has passed.”

Amid the backlash, Rob Reiner responded to the trolls and made his stand clear. “For those who are fighting to preserve our Constitutional Democracy, now is not the time to leave Twitter. Now is the time to VOTE BLUE!” he tweeted.
