Veronica Lodge's mom, Hermoine, is a total badass, and anybody who watches 'Riverdale' knows this for a fact. One moment, she's out there staying with her criminal husband Hiram Lodge, and the next minute, she's there to protect her daughter. Her character was bought to life beautifully by Marisol Nichols and the upcoming season four of the hit show will most definitely see her play a crucial role.

However, that's not all that she's known for. The actor is also the founder of the non-profit foundation For a Slavery Free World' that combats human trafficking.

She spoke to MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) recently on the work her foundation does. Nichols said she couldn't sleep when she heard that over two million children across the world are caught up in sex trade.

"That's two million children raped every day for money. I couldn't sleep," she recalled about what led her to kick off the foundation.

She added that she didn't wait around for an opportunity to get things started. "It’s so funny, I have a heard a lot of people go, as soon as I get famous, I’m going to do something."

"I had no work for like five years when I founded the foundation and I was like, I am not going to wait," shared Nichols.

"To me it’s something dear to my heart. It's something I don't understand why there are no protests on the street every day, and I felt like I had to do something about it."

Being part of 'Riverdale' helped her to spread the message as well. "It really helps. Having something that people want to see you and want to watch you in and then you can go ahead and use that to say 'Listen, I want to talk about something that’s really important'."

"And unfortunately, it's trafficking right? So I have to do it in a way that doesn't overwhelm people and crush them, but educates them and hopefully motivates them to do something about it," she added.

Nichols will be seen in the new fourth season of 'Riverdale' that is set to premiere on October 9 on The CW.
