The Rise and Fall of Culkin siblings: Here's where these stars stand today after battling troubled childhood, drug addiction and more
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The Culkin siblings are well-known in Hollywood, thanks to their movies, like ‘Home Alone’, ‘Father of the Bride’, and ‘The Zodiac’. Recently, the youngest of them, Rory Culkin, made news for his nude scene in ‘Swarm’, which divulged his front side.
Besides, his brother, Kieran Culkin has also been in the news lately for his performance in ‘Succession’. In order to know more about them, let’s take a look at the siblings’ lives, who were born to the never-married couple Kit Culkin and Patricia Brentrup, over the years as they continue to rule the tinsel town.

Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin is the third child of Kit and Brentrup and was born in August 1980. He rose to fame as a child actor in the ‘Home Alone’ franchise. The 42-year-old also got featured in ‘My Girl’, ‘The Nutcracker’, and ‘Richie Rich’. But later, he decided to go on a break and in 2018 revealed, "I even wanted to take a break for a while and eventually I was like 'I'm done guys, hope you all made your money because there is no more coming from me.'"
The ‘Uncle Buck’ actor did not share a good relationship with his parents and in 2000, he told The Guardian, "I remember one time near the end of the school year, I was walking down the road with my mother saying what I wanted to do this summer and suddenly I knew there was something she did not want to tell me. She said: 'Don't make plans this summer. You might be working.' Then you find out they had already signed the contract."
The issues at home reportedly led Macaulay toward drug addiction. However, in 2016, he stated, “No, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever.” Also, now it seems Macaulay is in a happy space as he’s the father of two and in love with the actress Brenda Song. The pair welcomed their firstborn named Dakota Song Culkin in April 2021.
They have also apparently welcomed a second baby recently. Following Dakota’s birth, Brenda reportedly shared, "My fiancee and I are very hands-on. We don't have a nanny, but my mom has been here with us since my son was born. When I was working, my mom would bring my son to set so I could breastfeed and see him during the day."
Kieran Culkin
Kieran, 40, was also a part of ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’ alongside his elder brother, Macaulay. But the year 2002 proved great for him as he was cast in the comedy-drama movie ‘Igby Goes Down’ for which he also received a Golden Globe nomination.
That wasn’t it as he went on to give a spectacular performance in HBO's ‘Succession’ and got nominated for the 'Best Supporting Actor' award at the Golden Globes in 2018, 2020, and 2021. Talking about his personal life, Kieran never appreciated his parents, especially his father.
Mentioning hus father, thr actor once said, “He wasn't a good person and, yeah, probably not a good parent. 'I never looked at him as Dad. He didn't really belong here, and when he was finally gone for good, it made the most sense.” However, Kieran is relishing life's joys currently with his wife, Jazz Charton, and two children — Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf.
Rory Culkin
Rory is the youngest among his siblings. His career began playing younger versions of Macaulay and Kieran. But he also got roles in movies, like ‘You Can Count on Me’ and ‘Signs’ where he left the standards high. Other films, where Rory played vital parts were ‘The Zodiac’ and ‘Scream 4’.
Further, he also worked in television series, like ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ and ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’. In 2018, the 33-year-old tied the knot with Sarah Scrivener, who is also a fan of wrestling like him. TMZ reported that during their wedding, Scrivener said, “Rory, I couldn't be happier to marry you on this rainy day in New Orleans on the eve of WrestleMania.”
Dakota Culkin
Dakota was the second eldest child of Kit and Brentrup. She reportedly worked as an art production assistant for the movie, ‘Lost Soul’. But in December 2008, she lost her life after an accident in NYC. One of her friends, Andrea Poe, told People, “She was very low-key [about her name], but at the same time proud of her siblings. She was very close to Macaulay. They would talk frequently on the phone or go out to eat.”
Kieran, who has named his first child Dakota, spoke about his late sister in 2021 as he told The Hollywood Reporter, “I accepted at the time that this is going to be forever, and it's never going to be fine. It's always going to be devastating. I still weep about it out of nowhere. Something funny she did will pop in the head and make me laugh, and then I'm weeping.”
Quinn Culkin
Much like her brothers, Quinn Culkin also tried her luck in acting and worked in ‘Wish Kid’ and ‘The Good Son’. However, she did not continue acting and not much is known about her current status.

Shane Culkin
Shane is the eldest among all Culkin siblings. He was part of the ‘Our Town’ play in 1998 but has been away from the news mostly. There have been no reports on his current whereabouts.
Christian Culkin
Born in 1987, Christian is the second youngest among the Culkin siblings. He worked in the 1994 film, ‘My Summer Story’, with his brother Kieran. He also had a role in ‘It Runs in the Family’ but since then he has not been seen in any movies or TV series. According to his LinkedIn page, Christian is a Contributing Writer at The Waverly Press.
